The bit that really wound me up was them sitting on the cars at Elvingdon. Get a bloody chair!

I tried watching it again, I just find them irritating for the majority of the time. Not quite as irritating as their "celebrity" guests laugh though! ;)

Ferrari have cultivated the following, which is why they can charge so much

Ferrari = Success

Ferrari means success in racing
More importantly owning a Ferrari means that you are a success.

For many it is a status symbol, not a car. It's unfortunate but true.

That's why they can charge so much.

For me I set myself a goal I'm having a Ferrari before I'm 50 and back in 2012 they were a bit more affordable and I kept my 4200 as well.
I bought my 456 because I'm an enthusiast not wealthy it was a lifestyle choice meaning money not spent on other things.
After that affair I got the 360 Modena F1 as that for me was a pure driving car.
I don't know how you rate being a Success for me it's still being Alive.

Not saying that I think that way Phil. I think pretty much everyone here is here because they love cars and driving cars, instead of just being seen in them. However, for the average person, I don't think the same is true.

It's why Ferrari can charge a fortune for stuff. There's an expectation that Ferrari can and will.

Totally agree mate and they certainly got some cash out of me to keep my Ferrari service history official.

Did anyone watch Top Gear last night......Really cannot get on with the looks of that Ferrari Portofino. But worse than the looks it had 80k of options.....Jesus that's a Stradale and a great QP....but worse than that....Carbon fibre cup holder....£1400......Ferrari clearly are taking the p1ss......
Yeah just watched that episode. 170k base plus 80k of options came out at 250k for the entry level Ferrari...I'd rather a v12 Lamborghini

I would have a McLaren 720S......In fact you can get a used one for 170k and still have 80k to spend on some more toys....

You can obviously buy a Portofino for a heck of lot less than that. And in the right colour (blue, grey, etc) they look fantastic. Easily the best of those three and would be my choice for the summer if I suddenly decided to move on the Strad or one of my others. More useable than a Macca, easier and cheaper to service, and better residuals too.

Carbon kits in Maccas are silly money as well. In fact they all charge crazy money for simple extras. But who needs all that extra tat? I specced a new 911 at DL in Swindon a couple of months back and the only extras I added to the base spec were metallic paint and a heated steering wheel. That surprised the sales boy.

Oh...and buyers of new Potifino’s already have other toys, so have no need to save money by buying something cheaper, just to get yet more even cheaper cars.

Just watched last nights. The VW electric race car reminded me of the noises the vehicles used to make in Logan’s run!!!

I find Top Gear to be the biggest b&ll@cks ever. Bunch of idiots. Chris Harris is a Porsche guy. The rest are comedians and Chris Harris falls into the swamp with them. How on earth can any car enthusiast wstch such utter cr@p and rubbish?

It‘s a light hearted comedy show with some nice cars. Easy to watch over a glass of wine while relaxing on a Sunday evening. I’m happy to enjoy it for what it is, as are millions of others in the UK and beyond. Remember, it’s just a bit of fun, and not supposed to be taken seriously.

Easy, it's not an car enthusiast show any more. Don't see it as that and take it for what it is. Chris Harris is a true car nut and the programme is all the better for it. He is a Porsche nut and there isn't anything wrong with that as they make some of the best sports cars on the planet. But his enthusiasm for for all things automotive is addictive. I have met him a few times as he lives close to me and he is the same off screen. A genuine car nut....I enjoy the programme ....yes it's same old and will not win any prizes for contents but I would prefer these three than the aging knobs that is now GrandTour. To be honest it's worth watching for the one car review Chris Harris does each week....This season the McLaren Speedtail and the Porsche Taycan reviews were brilliant.......But can also see why others may not enjoy the show also....Understand it's not for everyone.

Jesus, remember those days....God no that would make me fall to sleep......Reviews of Maestros and Metros....
To be fair that's when the UK still made plenty of British Cars and they were doing their bit promoting them.
They were good for British Motor Sport too with regular coverage.
The Competition too to get a drive on the RAC Rally never missed an episode in those days.
