Yes, but they couldn't 'Lock S-foils in attack position', now could they?

C

Aye, but Tie fighters could be modded to look even cooler - see Vader’s, or Kylo Ren’s. Even Luke had a bog standard, cooking X Wing, they were all the same. Boo!

Gets my goat.

Cars are seen as the evil source of the coming apocalypse.

What about;
Aircraft
Shipping
Coal and gas fired power stations
All these rockets Munks keeps sending up
Cheep disposable plastic tat... etc etc

No the motorist is an easy hit and scape goat.

..And this:

... and they’re using this coal power to build Teslas there now..

My hybrid was delivered today and it goes like a stabbed rat. Having watched Harry’s review of hybrid vs EV I think it is the best current compromise. But it won’t be replacing the Strad.

Also, surely it's a motor, not an engine?

To be honest I think they are interchangeable terms. They are both defined as machines with moving parts that convert energy into motion. It just sounds odd, however Americans call engines motors....

I was always taught that an engine converted chemical energy to motion via heat.

But things change.

And Americans don't speak English.... ;)

I think that is how most people see it, including me, but the Oxford English says a motor is “a machine that supplies motive power for a vehicle or other device with moving parts” which makes sense. An engine is “a machine with moving parts that converts power into motion”. You would be hard pushed to get a logical *** paper between them.

I’ve looked a bit further and it seems Motor comes from the Latin Movere - to put something in motion. Engine comes from a similar route, but if you think about it, the first steam engines were static and used to power factories or pumps, so this probably migrated to steam trains and steam rollers along with the tech and then ended up in steam cars and was then transferred to IC cars. Motor might actually be the right term.

What manner of hybrid, Zep?

It’s a 330e M Sport. 300 brake in stupid mode and 40 miles electric only in straight laced mode. It’s early days, but I quite like it. It’s pretty nippy even in electric only.

You can hear the birds chirping in the trees as you drive along which is an odd experience. I imagine my neighbours are bemused as I now have the loudest and quietest cars in the village.

What do you really think there will be ban on petrol cars? I don't think it will happen for along time which is good news for us. Especially after visiting Melbourne again and seeing all the cars. Hybrid cars will be around so petrol cars will exist. Not sure about UK because the news is climate change obsessed.

What a waste of 22 seconds. That video will do nothing other than disappoint 99% of all who watch it. If Maserati think that buyers will be excited and turned on by that they are in for a rude awakening.

Even after the 'sale' of petrol cars is banned, they're not going to ban the 'use' of a petrol car the next day, month, year and perhaps not decade.
The presence of petrol cars on our roads will likely drop over time as it already is.

I think it depends on what buyers you are talking about. Most of our generation of ICE obsessed buyers perhaps not. But other buyers who are not ICE obsessed, who have bought into the electric vehicle movement, who want an alternative to Tesla’s electric sports car - which has massive pre-order numbers - might well fall over each other to buy one if it’s any good. Personally, I’m very interested to see both the 2020 and 2021 new cars
