Now this is an interesting read and what a lovely machine, not sure about the guide 600/700k for what is a replica, although I can see wealthy collectors paying that

Always fancied building a Stratos kit with Alfa Busso power but then I sat in one - I'm not big but it was one **** of a squeeze

ditto on wanting to build one, im 6 foot 2 and sat in one a while back and you're quite right it's tight, once in though not too bad other than top of head at slight angle, but you can lower the seat with some mods which would of made it fine for me, think if someone's carrying some weight it could be a problem squeezing in

Lost out on this one at auction, was a peach replica but just went a tad higher than i was prepared to pay

That's not far off going rate for a well built a pre Hawk. A fellow Alfisti has a Green CAE kit (I think, pre Hawk) now running a supercharged 3.7 Busso which he has turned down £50k for. He advises care when buying a previous built kit as quality is down to the individual builder but he suggests anything less than £30k would concern him.

that bonhams car seemed very well built when I had a good nose round it, if I had secured it my plan was to first modify floor pan and lower seat so my bonce was at correct angle;) and fit an alfa v6 busso engine and then alitilia theme, the bussos are beautiful lumps when all polished up

This one turned up at our local classic show in 2017. It was lovely, as was the chap who owned it. I did feel sorry for him though, as he spent the whole day answering the bleeding obvious question about its progeny.

I reckon it’d be a great toy for our muddy Welsh lanes, but a very selfish one. Brightened my visit to the show though.64834

I love this rally rep stradele look, if I did one it would be exactly the same but in an original vibrant 70s colour i.e. Yellow, Green or Orange

That would be ace. The window shapes are just gorgeous - like a race helmet - and any of those colours would accentuate them. Come to think of it, a ‘70s helmet design might look good - an ode to one of the drivers perhaps?

The only real one I’ve seen in the wild outside many in museums was a red one on the A40 about 20 years ago. It looked so tiny, even back then when Minis were minis.

I too was looking into building a kit or re-fettling an exisiting one that has been part built. I was told on good authority by the owner of a Group 4, road legal Stratos that a good kit is better put together than the original cars and he used some of the Hawk parts when he needed unobtainable parts for his.
Some of the kits have been so shabbily built though and building one from the ground up would I fear be beyond my basic spannering skills

I have heard the same on build quality of the originals, as far as building one is concerned from what I hear plan ahead, take your time, test fit in advance and they go together well, rush at your peril. However I would still be petrified of the electrics

Where? I can only see the camel humps and toe

Priorities dear boy, look after it and the B24 will look like that in 50 years not sure the camel will be in the same shape

Mate of mine once when for a job as front of house at the restaurant at Brands Hatch, the then owner interviewed him there on a practise day, the first time his attention moved to the on track action rather than the interview it was suspended and he was told he had failed the interview.
