The cars or their owners?

I rather fancy myself as a thoroughred dinosaur....but actually a bit of a mangy mongrel!

My circumstances have changed. I had a golden opportunity to take early retirement last year, after 31 years with the same company, so I have decided to prioritise other things now.I don't think you have done too bad to be honest. These big lumpy motors have always depreciated heavily from new until they get to £5k! Look at all the old big Mercs and AMG's.
There are so many alternative competing options out there and with a minuscule buyer marketplace it is tough. I bought my 2010 XJL SuperSport about a year ago for a fair bit less than your QP as a comparison.
Why are you looking to sell it? To get into something else? Or just don't need it any more?
Sure, I can understand that. Unless you use the car enough and unless it gives you enough pleasure I would be inclined to offload even at a lower than hoped price. Although you have spent a fair bit on it a QP will have a certain constant risk of something else going wrong. The cost of servicing, repairs, consumables and ongoing maintenance will all be there and won't be particularly cheap. My circumstances have changed. I do not blame you at all.I suspect that I will end up keeping the QP afterall and take the risk. To be honest it's far too good a car to just give it way which I won't do. It deserves much more than this. I will decide end January.
This will make you feel better.
In 2002 I bought a used (ex Peugeot) 18m old 607 V6 for £17k... sold for £150 five years later for scrap as it was worth nothing...and I could not sell it to anyone... they retailed at £30k new.
Totaly different car but big limos loose tones.
I had a 607 - sluggish off the start but ate up the miles and lovely quiet ride - don’t seem many on the road. This will make you feel better.

As values drop there's more breaking for spares adverts appearing, now we all know the price of new parts is very expensive but some of these cars getting broken up for spares there's people asking a price for s/h parts nearly the same as Eurospares charge for a new part in some cases. It's not just the four doors which are falling in price, judging by the winning bids on e bay, £7000 is probably a good price for a 3200 or 4200.
Read the reviews of our cars in classic magazines or non specialist forums & what they are saying is, 'buy an inexpensive Maserati now & enjoy big bills on these unreliable cars later.' Nobody though seems to say, buy an expensive Ferrari & enjoy big bills on these unreliable cars later.' Still, with values so low, how can we justify paying thousands for parts. As an example, the ABS pump recently died on my 3200 & a replacement was several thousand pounds. Without the help I received on this forum, sourcing a replacement for next to nothing, I would undoubtedly have scrapped the car. Tragic.
It's what I do , I enjoy getting to know my cars, it's part and parcel of owning it, and I take pride in maintaining and improving it, everything is logged and recorded, a FDSH isn't worth all that imo.I think now is the time if you run one of these cars you have to be practical with some knowledge and tools.
Then buying and running a fast sports GT car and keeping it going is very doable and makes the experience as enjoyable without too much pain.
There are a few of us on here who do it.
Otherwise it's a Big War Chest needed.
Just my thoughts.
When I had the Ferraris I had the money to get them serviced and repaired by the Dealer in Exeter purely for the Service history.
Wouldn't want to do it again as I have different things I want to spend money on.
