Why are you selling Mattp ?
I’d love to have her back !!

Why? Good question!!! I love the car and that's no understatement! I've looked at all sorts of replacements and everything comes up short... Even newer QP's!

The car was only ever supposed to have been a short term proposition - wifey gave me 6 months! It's two years now!!!

Sadly I need something that is a little cheaper to run, I've considered a second car, but I'd end up never using it!!!

Your welcome to have her back! You can have it for free! Just buy back your plate for about 13.5k!!! you know you want it for the Aston!!!

This would have been ideal
It certainly is a Big item mate.
I had all my expenses paid for me to come over and do one.
Its also a lot of hard graft.

Thought I say that car for sale Phil...Maybe not but it certainly was like the one you did. So I take it we are talking 1000's to get it sorted ? Anyone buying one must get them checked out then as it could break the bank. Like we have always said cheap to buy but they are still a Ferrari engined car with costs relevant to that. Fun though.

Spot On Andy and most items on these cars are labour intensive its the nature of the Beast.

I know Jon Giles and he has had some nice cars in my home town of WsM.
He had a 355 when I had my 360 also been a Good Race and Rally driver too.

I wish I hadn't clicked on this thread now - I've been dipping in to various QP threads on here over the last few years but this one is making my head spin like a whirling dervish!! I've been thinking about replacing my six year old Alfa Giulietta daily hack for ages (in all honesty for almost as long as I've owned it), I'm going round in ever decreasing circles unable to decide which way to jump but the thought of a QPV with my moniker on the logbook still gets the spine tingling, more than any other 'modern' car I can think of, even one that's sixteen years old. The mentions up the thread about low rate loans have got me thinking too now that the mortgage is paid off. It might seem daft going backwards from a 12' plate car but for me there's nothing else out there which has that certain 'something' about it and if I can part-ex or offload the Alfa so much the better. My annual mileage is only 5k - 6k which helps....! :p

You will be going back plate wise, but it really doesn't matter! Private plate it and it could be a modern car... The design is a classic, timeless work of art! My car is currently, grubby and sitting in the street - this morning, walking back with the wife after dropping jr at school, I still had to comment on how f**ing cool it looked! Squat, wide, purposeful with those 4 angry exhaustpipes!!!

Buy one! Your mileage fits beautifully in making the car practical!!!

I'm going to chip in here, belatedly, and say that I don't think a QPV is 'delicate', but a 10-15 year old car will have things go wrong or wear out, and when they do it can be expensive. So a new wheel bearing for a Fiat Punto is £28, for a QPV £630. New rear shock absorbers are £1,050 for a pair. So you have to be ready to pay fairly serious money as things wear out, and/or be handy at sourcing and fitting used parts. I wouldn't want to put anyone off buying a QPV, as they are great, but if you are stretching your finances to buy a cheap/old one, then make sure you have a bit of financial headroom to keep it on the road if something goes a bit wrong.

That's a very good point Mark. I really miss my QPV but fortunately still have the GTS. I would love to have a QPV again but 'in addition' and it would not be for mile munching, which I have a couple of 10+ year old V8 BMWs for. I ran my GTS to nearly 40k miles but was well advised how much it was going to cost in suspension parts etc if I carried on. £630 per wheel bearing is a perfect example, the £1000 per corner replacement bush is another. Wonderful car to do 6k miles a year in though and perhaps better appreciated that way?
