Buy a QP, you wont regret it! and for the money your looking at, any number of places will lend you money at a much better rate than a dealer!

I dont want to step on Sommi's toes, but just for another choice - my QPV SportGT is also for sale - 20", Carbon Fibre, Alcantara, late early QPV so 2 year service interval - next service due 2021

This is a beautiful looking car. Should I be worried about the Duo Select?

I've driven this car...it's amazing and the colour is stunning. Duo Select is an old gearbox and not for everyone...Its old school paddle shift but I have never had an issue when driving one. Should you be worried ..... Not really ......

Have you seen the grey QP V with Nuvola? It's only done 3900 miles, so is "as new", and only £24k. It's depreciated at about £15 per mile! But that makes it cracking value for the next owner. Obviously the monthly repayments will be bit higher than a £10k car though.
I have but it's a bit out of budget. I could stretch to maybe 13-14k but that would be the max

The duoselect is more sporty than the ZF is that correct? The one I drove was DS and I really enjoyed. I kept in manual mode and didn't bother with the auto mode nonsense. But I'm coming from a Lexus with a cumbersome gearbox

Just drive them both and buy the one that lights you up. Neither are wrong , bad or hard to live with. You buy the engine and get the rest of the car for free :D

What's the difference between the standard model and the sport GT? I like the grill on the sport GT. I assume it's sportier with firmer suspension? Is it quicker? Sounds like the one for me if I can find one within budget. Do the sport GTs all have the DS gearbox?

brace yourself.

Sport GT was duo select only with new grille, quicker shifts and factory fit exhaust mode (X-pipe?). Carbon interior as standard, aluminium pedals and sport steering wheel, stiffer suspension via software ? (thanks Nikko).
all Duoselect cars have the original dry sumped engine. The variator issue not reported here. You do get a clutch as standard, the worry about said clutch belongs to the driver rather than the car.

Sport GTS was replacement. came with ZF box, wet sump engine and non-skyhook suspension (single rate springs). This car had best ride quality in back to back tests.

Lucky for me I found the Sport GT first. The ZF "makes sense" to prospective buyers. The DS rewards the driver.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Maserati. I currently have a Lexus LS 430. I test drove a quattroporte yesterday. a black one for 10k. it was amazing to drive, I loved it. I would have bought it but it didn't have a service history and I know these cars are quite delicate so I didn't want to risk it. Was I right to walk away? is there anything else I should look out for before buying?

Get to a forum meet before you decide "these cars are quite delicate". the opinions of people who are not owners might not be entirely valid.
Some men (and women) confidently state that a woman's vagina is a delicate body part. That may well be true, I do not have one so cannot confirm first hand. Once up to working temperature I can report with authority they can really take some hammer.

Can't argue with this in anyway. Although I've only had one F1 box. The number of vaginas I've experienced is something I will never reveal*

*Because I don't want to make the rest of you feel inadequate, of course ;)

DS is when cold, cranky and you'll think what a load of cr4p, but when it gets warm it really does make you think you could possibly be an F1 driver. Changes in D (auto mode) are free and easy and smooth, in Manual non-sports, quite lazy but effective, in Manual Sports can be quite vicious, especially if you change to early, 3 to 4 k rpm is best.

The best mate is say in 5th manual sports, need to overtake, put a few revs on and double-paddle down to 3rd (won't let you select an inappropriate gear up or down) push the pedal and enjoy, you won't believe a 5 seat saloon possibly 16 years old can do it, like a rocket honest, pisses on XR-3i's....

Never tried an auto, not old enough yet, only 58....
