Not used the car for a while. Put Key in ignition - wouldn't start and barely any juice so remote locking not functioning. Now key won't come out of ignition either , boot won't open from key nor on button on dash nor by depressing the button on the rear of the boot itself

So I can't access the battery to charge!

PLS HELP!!

How about opening bonnet and putting a jump/battery pack on the postive and earth terminals? Might give a tiny bit of juice boost to eject key at least maybe open boot.

Or even another 12v battery from elsewhere or another car....but not started or could fry electrics. Don't jump start modern car from jump leads.

Got a spare key? Could open boot from key.

The manual boot release is in the passenger rear footwell under the seat.

Don’t do what Stevo did and grab the airbag wiring and yank it!

Well it is on a GT so it must be the same on a QP?

It might be best to use the key to manually open the boot, there is a key slot next to the boot latch

Thanks- looks like this would be easiest solution, if the key weren't stuck in the ignition!!
Key should come out of the ignition if you firmly turn the wheel left and right (easier on gravel than tarmac) while jiggling the key - but doubtless you have tried that.

Important bit (once you have the key) is the pushing DOWN on the boot lid, as Wanderer says.

I din't know about the release cable under the passenger seat! Or is that just on the GT, not the QP.

If your key is stuck in the ignition I think you'll need to release by removing the little cap on the edge of the igniton switch and pressing the button underneath with something point while pulling the key.

Thanks for info on this thread - it's just saved me! I couldn't work out how to get to the boot.

I also couldn't get my key out the ignition either, but had a spare luckily.

I have attached the battery charger and the key has now come out but the car is beeping like made with the dashboard lights going haywire - it this normal or should I have disconnected the terminals on the battery before charging??

Yes low power causes mayhem.

Disconnect your battery negative terminal and charge the battery overnight.

Reconnect, lock, unlock and you should be all good.

Great thanks will do, I just hope I haven't caused any damage!

Had to replace battery. New one fitted and everything running just fine. A joy to be using again!
Just followed insruction of using remote key again to ensure tied in with car. All fine, no dash symbols etc
