QPV GTS - Rear Parcel Speakers Recommendation?

Hi gents,

Autofficina are replacing my stuck rear seatbelt mechanism today - rear seats out, parcel shelf out also. Whilst they're there they notice that the parcel shelf speaker wiring looks like it's been played with at some point, and the corresponding speakers are non functional also (I've never noticed - in the picture it looks like they're missing the blue electrical connector).

Part codes showing are 293925-001 and 227270.
I can find the latter on Eurospares: https://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/...-ignition/sound-diffusion-system-47674/227270

Is it wise to stick to original Bose (which were fairly good, right?) or find something aftermarket with the exact same physical profile?

Cheers

The original Bose are £87 for the pair from Eurospares.

Not 100% sure what aftermarkets would fit in their place... something with a bolt spacing of 7cm probably, but I think from my 'youf speakers are typically measured by the speaker's diameter...

The more I think about it, sticking to OEM Bose can't be a bad shout.

By the time you add on you or AO messing around to fit something else - at £87 I would agree!

Ive replaced mine with Alpine speakers. The original Bass in parcel shelf will need disconnecting and removing, upon which you can fit aftermarket speakers but will need to run a separate amp 2 or 4 channel to power them all. This means splicing into the original harness and tapping out the wires you require and by passing the original maser amps.

I decided in the end to remove the stock head unit and fit a 10 inch touch screen DAB/nav Alpine unit with new amps. there are some photos on my other thread

I recommend Focal Speakers . I changed all the ones in my GS and what a differance ! Never been a fan of Alpine . I think people just buy them because they know the name . they arnt that good for the money . basically buy the ones with the biggest magnets on the back .

In a moment of Spinal Tap'ing I turned the volume knob to 13 and have done something terminal to my rear woofer. Now when I switch on the audio, I get a bit of a loud farty crackle from it and then nothing. Is it a big job to get the parcel shelf out to look at the speaker? Or could I have blown an amp?

Is there any "how to" for the rear pacel shelf so I can admire other peoples skill at dismantling their motors? Most likely I'll have get someone who knows to do it though! I know others have not rated the sound quality of these cars but I thought it was pretty good. I certainly noticed that the bass woofer at the back seemed to be doing it's job. However the woofer in the passenger footwell is just a waste of space and just annoys the passenger feet if the volume is pumped up!

I’m having Audison door speakers fitted to my GT-S tomorrow together with plenty of dynamat sound deadening in the door cavaties. Should make a huge difference.

Trouble is the QP doesn't have any speakers in the front doors. There are tweeters in the corners of the dash in the front and a woofer in the passenger footwell. The rest of the speaks are in the rear parcel shelf and the rear doors. I'm sure I've read a post somewhere (probably the other forum) where new speakers werer etrofitted to the front doors. But I'm getting ahead of myself as the parcelsheld woofer is the priority!

QP5 audio sounds great to me, but then again I'm a punk at heart, loud is all that matters.

My previous car (Caddy CTS) had a Bose system too, not as good as the QP's tho and when that was on loud the rear view mirror used to shake, cos it was o poorly build. QP's is rock solid even during The Spirit of Radio at full belt...
