I echo that suggestion. Just get it to Marios at Autoshield. It needs a full inspection to higlight work needed and Marios is best placed - expertise, facilities and deep know-how across the range. He can also collect it and trailer it in.

Looked at removal of rear subframe and chickened out! Ground old (rusted) bracket off, made a new one and welded on, painted etc. Back on four wheels, rear suspension tracked. ABS, body control, damper, traction lights are on, will book in at Autoshield to get a full OBD readout and go from there. The gearlever is broken so I'm going to print a new one, it looks like it's a common problem. Onwards and upwards.

Wow, Phil the Brit - Meaouw! I bought it because it seemed fun, I don't have Maserati posters in my lonely bedroom like you, I have a life and like to do lots of things (like racing my formula ford car). Have you tried diversifying? You may take to train spotting, lots of numbers and types of engine, what's not to like?

"Fortune favours the brave, Rodney."

I'm loving this impulse purchase. Hopefully a heaped spoonful of optimism will be sufficient to put it right. And a little help from Marios, maybe.

At 2.5k I would have been tempted to buy just to sit in and start the engine every so often... and if it does not start I would just play a youtube video of one running as I pretend to drive it.

Sad???...well only did 800 miles in the GS last 12 months so more of the same!

Oops... back from Marius, things are less shiny than hoped! One damper electrics AWOL, two rear ABS sensors u/s, clutch worn and front subframe much lighter than when it left the factory (maybe it was rusty then). Sooo... I'm going to set fire to it, photos available £1 per set.

Bought on a whim, will sell it on a whim along with the MAZ 72.. reg number. I just don't have the determination to do the front s'frame.

Good on you Steve for taking a punt. Does it still have MOT, at least drive it to hear and feel that engine.
Sure it is worth more in parts than it cost.
The subframes sound like the killer items. (GULP - looking for rust remover kit)

Fuzz Townshend and £3000 is probably the only rust remover that would work, I do wonder why something so critical as front and rear subframes couldn't be galvanised from new

Galvanising lets the metal distort something rotten, something as critical as a sub frame would be a disaster. I’d assume the e-coat them but likely gust black sprayed and zero internal treatment in the factory.

Used subframe, a few jacks, engine crane and 3-4 weeks of swearing then it would be job done
