4 Seat Strad in White

Why oh why are they all white? Why did virtually every potential Strad owner look at a rainbow and think, oh my, what a lovely array of colours there are in the World, but then look at the clouds instead and say, oooooh, white, yes, that’s the colour I’ll order mine in.

sort of a racing car colour. Original two seater press car was white and think it's stuck. As the brochure and press pictures picture it by white racing cars as well think it appealed more maybe. I think white suits it.....But even when customers didn't go white most went black or grey for feck sake. New buyers it appears lived their lives in black and white.

You only see them in three colours, white, black and grey. Sure, there are other colours out there but I would say black seems the most common....oh, and white is the best colour :)

I must say, after about two years in my Maseratis I start to fidget and the eye starts to wander. Not so with the Strad, it’s an amazing car and I feel very attached to it still.

I’ve yet to see one with the side stripes and/or roof branding livery, like the launch car.

Last week I agreed a deal on 2 seat Strad. The original specification included the roof decal, but a bashful previous owner had removed it. I intended to refit it, along with the side stripes, and had priced this up at Meridien Modena. But the owner has had a change of heart and is now keeping it. I think he persuaded his wife that having the MC-Strad and his newly acquired 360 Strad was a perfectly reasonable thing to do. So, my search continues.

This is not the first time I’ve seen Strad owners bail at the point of sale. It’s an emotional one that.

One of the other Strad owners....white, sorry Ewan....had the graphics re created for about £125. Don’t know what oem are but I would hazard a guess at £600???

Yeah, they look good in white. The first one I saw, at Lancaster Colchester, was red. Wonderful, wonderful thing. Gave me goosebumps.

After 14 continuous years with a single plate automated manual, I think I am done with them......

From now on, it’ll only be manual, twin-plate or full slush...

BUT - each box selection has to be carefully mated to the character of the car and it’s “ originally intended purpose” - this has become emphatically clear to me...

Watch this space..

It’s about £600 inc Vat and fitting, just for the roof one. And not a dissimilar figure again for the side stripes.

The way things are going, I’ll probably have to “settle” for a white one, as that’s all there is available. But a white MC-Strad sat next to the black GC-MC won’t look too shabby.

Not many come out with the graphics which is a shame as on white I thought it suited the nature of the car. Shame you missed that one Ewan.

Come on guys, it's not like you see three in a row or a pile at a car meet. I have never had a "white" car before and never thought I would.

But, on seeing mine - it looks creamy white in real life - with the smoke looking glass, mat black wheels (huge) and red calipers just made sense. I am still in the honeymoon phase three years later, almost.

They are special cars, much more than their colour. I can't think of a colour they would not be special in.

Maybe I buy one of three white ones currently for sale, then give it a respray to match the Ghibli:

The same principle applies to amg cars. Why did everyone in the mid noughties think only silver would do? I checked and they did come in a whole array of colours and yet you never see them, they are (virtually) all silver. Its an ok colour but did no one have any individuality? As a result my drive now has 2 silver cars yet I'd never choose it given the option.
