Any experiences moving from GTS to F430?

430 F1 is indeed booked at 4.0 to 60

Clocked mine at 3.7 on a track.
Manufacturer data might be one thing.... and lots of different website give different time.
My best friend 911 TT is spec’d at 3.6sec, he’s clocked his at 3.2...

Quite possibly but also there are reports of Strads doing 0-60 in 3.8 but you will have to take all those figures with a pinch of salt.

A case of Maserati under-reporting figures to avoid pi5sing off their cousins at Ferrari?
And Ferrari historically over-reporting..

Regarding 1/4 mile times, despite not really knowing how to do 1/4 miles drags in my car, I have consistently whooped cars with reported 12 second times. YMMV.

Boot it only after the clutch has properly engaged, seems to be the general rule of thumb. Well, for anyone who values their clutch, anyway!

If anyone can provide more enlightenment I'd be happy to learn.

smell of thread swerve, but anyway, not quite sure what you mean? I just mash it when the lights go green. The main problems are wheel hop (depending on how warm the tyres are) and me hitting the limiter, normally in 2nd instead of just shifting before hand. I have never perceived clutch as such in this scenario. The car in general seems to relish it, never had any clutch smell.

Right, I'm trying that next dry day! (whenever that might be). I'd always assumed you needed to engage the clutch first. Your idea is far more fun.

...and expensive I suspect. I reckon it depends on how fast the clutch can close vs how fast the engine can spin it. You don't really want a large differential in rotational speed between the driven and drive plates when they come together.

In a drag racing situation, what would you recommend? ('having a cup of tea' not being a valid answer). Oh, and how does one "engage the clutch" on a robotized manual (other than stomping on the fast pedal)?

Not sure my recommendation is entirely valuable but...

If you want to get fastest off the line, you're probably right, stamp on it. But I suspect you'll get through your clutch rather faster than...

...bringing the revs up *slightly* more slowly until they get over about 1700 and then stamping on it.

If my memory serves, the clutch is fully engaged at 1600, but you're talking about maybe .2s to get it there.

Make some kind of sense?

Fastest way off the line for an F430 F1 is to use launch control. Takes a bit of a bite out of the clutch though...

Thanks, Voicey. And what about in cars without LC? Or in cases where clutch life is valued..?
