Mmm...does this look right?

Apparently its only a legal requirement on all cars registered after Nov 2014

It clearly looks like someone replaced the tpms valves with regular ones. Do you not have a warning light on?

I don't have TPMS on my car and it's March 2014.

Just googled and it only became a requirement if manufactured after 1 November 2014 so I dodged a bullet on that! It also says that if it was fitted to a car built after 2012 and it doesn't work then it's an MOT failure.

A requirement? Seriously? Do people not have eyes? Why do we have to legislate for the lazy and or idiots?

For the same reason that we lane departure warning and self parking systems. We are in the minority in not regarding driving as a chore.

Wonder why the valves aren't the same aluminium type irrespective of TPMS?
I must admit, I'm happy not to have it. I've found it an expensive feature on my 2004 Ferrari when the sensors started to fail.

Can't you delete this option from the ECU?

I could in my last car that had them... and given the age and use of older masers this does seem like a cash cow for the parts industry!

Really no need to bother the dealer with this one!

Similar scenario with my Ferrari, actually the same parts! Apparently, 99% of failures are due to the valve stems, so its often worth getting your tyre centre to replace these first - £10 each on eBay.

I got the Ferrari 575m sensors from eBay, supposedly "from the original manufacturer" in Germany. £35 each I think. Been working perfectly now for 2 years. No problem with the ECU 'learning' process, Just followed the instructions in the owners manual.

According to t'internet if the car had them fitted on manufacture and they don't work on testing then it's an MOT failure.

Would this be a warranty item or not (if you have warranty did you try?).
My sensors are all over the place at the minute, warning light been on pretty much constantly since getting the car 6 weeks ago, the dealer (not supplying dealer) redid all the pressures last week when it went in but the following morning they were all over the place again. 2.4bar all round (warning went off) quickly read measurements of 2.1 - 2.4 on random wheels. Was told to report back to the Dealer when it goes back for the new parking sensors!

My local MOT guy sees it different, he says he’ll pass it if not working if car is pre 2012, which mine is, he says it’s 100% clear.

Mines actually working now though...
