My 4200 has just had the clutch master cylinder replaced by a specialist. This has solved the problem I had of not being able to engage a gear until after the car had warmed but has created other issues. The clutch now slips under hard acceleration (which it didn’t before) and the clutch pedal...
Yeah the head came off and the spring and reverse button shot across the car! It happened as I was in a rush and couldn’t wait for it to warm up.
Agreed, driving without the reverse selector was a ballache but I found getting reverse easier without it (surely not a good sign).
I’ll ensure...
I’d be really grateful if you could link to your original thread. I’ll send it to my specialist, as I recall that you included pics of what the build-up looked like. Were the symptoms similar to what I’m getting before you did the work? Many thanks
No slippage at all. But no ability to select gears until the car has sat warming for ten minutes in the morning. So you think the clutch itself might be ok?
Hi All,
I’ve been told that I need a new clutch, and both quotes I have so far are for over 3 grand (supply and fit). Just wanted to make sure that this seems about right or if there are any non-OEM alternatives? I’ve also been quoted over a grand for the gearstick knob (which snapped while...
My 56 plate Coupe GT is refusing to start after a brief run this morning (during which she ran fine but cooling fans were on even though engine temp was low). Perhaps more exhaust fumes than usual, but hard to tell on these cold mornings. Engine seemed to make a ‘clunk’ when turned off. Starter...
Any advice on sourcing aftermarket versions of these bits for a 2006 4200 (manual) would be greatly appreciated. I’ve already requested a quote from Eurospares:
front suspension springs
rear suspension springs
All brake hoses
Rear exhaust clamps
n/s rear top susp arm
o/s rear top susp arm...
Temp up to 120 (by the analogue guage) this morning in traffic. High speed fan on constantly but seemingly not doing the job. At what temp could damage occur? I think I’ll take her off the road until that new fan resistor is ready.
Cheers, I’m just going off the analogue gauge, but rising to a markedly higher temp in heavy traffic than it was before. Fan doesn’t seem to be kicking in later, just not cooling as effectively as before.
Cheers, yeah mine has been running the high-speed fan only since purchase in June with a resistor due to be fitted at a big service in a couple of weeks. This has always worked brilliantly, cutting in in the low 90s and taking back to mid-80’s in heavy traffic. Temp always down to a healthy...
Hi All,
My 56 plate 4200 manual has always hovered between approx 85 and 93 when in heavy traffic but in the last couple of days the temp seems to be higher - up to just over 100. No side-effects whatsoever. I just wondered what could be causing this? Should I worry? Oil pressure a steady 2.5...
Hi All,
This morning I had heavy water drips into my passenger footwell and puddles under the car. It’s stopped now and the aircon is working fine (although making occasional huffing noises). Car was sat in heavy rain all weekend, but I doubt it’s that.
Any advice much appreciated
Hi All,
The usual suspects are coming back with really high quotes and I wondered if anyone knew a specialist or broker who might be able to help?
Cheers
Many thanks all.
At the time of the original dripping the car was parked on a slight incline with front wheels higher. I haven’t seen any more drips since parking on level surfaces.
I can probably guess the answer, but was the system designed this way?!
