Newbie, carless but curious and looking

In case you haven't seen it, there is a low mileage black manual 4200 advertised on this forum for £10,000. I have no connection with the member. Good luck in your search.

    What you drinking now?

Easy to work up a thirst in the Dolomite sunshine. A magical place.

    Sportsitalia…the end

I'm shocked and saddened to learn of this. For me SI has embodied the best features of an independent specialist - run by enthusiasts for their fellow enthusiasts. Sincere thanks to Matt, Ash and everyone at SI for their excellent work in the past and very best of luck in your quest to...

    Our Alpine Adventure 2023

The drive up to Passo di Giau is an amazing experience - especially in winter, when for the last couple of miles to the top of the pass, the road zig-zags across a vast snow field. Our Alpine Adventure 2023

Route recommendations please, for UK to Modena

Sadly, Scaf's experience in June (above) is not unusual. I've had similar soggy and disappointing days in early summer - last time I drove Passo Pordi in June the whole day was torrential rain with murky low cloud at the top.

Route recommendations please, for UK to Modena

Re. closed passes: I frequently drive around the Dolomites and Austrian Alps in winter ski season and almost all passes and through routes are kept open/cleared promptly, even after substantial snowfalls. Driving basic rental cars, on dozens of trips, I have only ever needed snow chains once...

@dgmx5 my trip wasn't long ago, so I don't think there's much to add.
