Driving near Marlborough just now and saw a yellow Alpine A110 coming towards me - closer and it had “Police” on the bonnet and the rest in blue/yellow. Wilts plods are in special measures and have stiffed us with >5% increase in our local tax so who is paying for this?
Back from a 1000mile round trip to North Britain. Rain then sunshine! Spyder roof up and down several times with no latch glitches - suspect the sun’s heat (Fife, Scotland!!!)

Tried that (beware that the screw latch is locked with a hidden grub screw) but a turn or two either way made no difference. More and then there’d be a gap; less and no microswitch contact. I think more or faster turning by the latch motor ( thinner grease?)
My machining colleague talks about a Lotus 23 powered with 6 Ariel 250 twin engines (Rotorvic). When he worked as a classic restorer (they had the 23 chassis n body rebuild stuff) they ran this at Goodwood and other places. A bu*ger to set timing and the throttle linkages:

On one side the screw latch will often not be fully released on opening - closes down just fine. I have stripped, cleaned and re-greased the locking motor gearbox and even with Matt’s recent greasing it usually takes a couple of open/close cycles to release the screw from the latch.

Worked for a company with GM connections. Our company cars were all Vauxhalls and were turned over v quickly after miles or short dates, presumably for easy resale, though what they did with one of ours with a firework burn on the roof remains a mystery….
