    Maserati 4200 GT For Sale

Hi, thanks for the interest. The leaking shock picked ip on the MOT last year has been replaced. Had a new clutch at 50k. Yes parts prices can be a bit eye watering in some areas but surprisingly reasonable in others. I suppose that’s what drives the value down, if they were cheap to maintain...

    Maserati 4200 GT For Sale

Not much I’d suggest. Very small market though hey. If I didn’t have other projects on the go and had more space I would just keep it.

To be fair I’m probably under selling the way it looks, it does present ok when it’s nice and clean and it is pretty special to drive

    Maserati 4200 GT For Sale

Hi All After some serious thought I have decided now is the time to let someone else have the pleasure of our manual Maserati 4200. In my ownership it has been on a few UK road trips, taken through France for a family holiday between the lockdowns and I’ve completed many of the ‘big ticket’...

No oil pressure today - possible oil pump failure!

Certainly is rewarding in the end, couple of moments during the process that tested my patience mind!

No oil pressure today - possible oil pump failure!

New power steering pump fitted this week, bit of a pita for access but done in the end! Bled the brakes this afternoon, which was the last of jobs to make it roadworthy again. Took it out for shakedown across Dartmoor this evening, bloody fantastic! Sounding sweet , running great and other...

No oil pressure today - possible oil pump failure!

Yeah I think I’m pleased it’s just the pump, I thought it was odd that a lifter would just randomly start clattering about. It does appear to be a **** to exchange the pump though

No oil pressure today - possible oil pump failure!

Turns out my initial thoughts on where the noise was coming from were off. It’s the power steering pump! It’s rattling around on its bearing and the noise is obviously echoing up that side of the block. I put a new aux tensioner and belt on when I rebuilt everything so this must’ve finished...

No oil pressure today - possible oil pump failure!

Thanks for your input, yeah the variators have been quiet since owning the car. It starts and sounds fine for a while then the ‘tick/rattle’ appears after a while. I think you’re on to something with the oil level, it has been quiet as a mouse while it was jacked high at the front, now it’s on...

No oil pressure today - possible oil pump failure!

Thanks, I think it sounded more ‘top endy’ and it’s a manual. But maybe it could still be the release bearing or something? I’ll try it tonight. It’s disappointing because it has run sweetly on several occasions before I lowered it down

No oil pressure today - possible oil pump failure!

Had a bit of a set back today. I’ve had the car running a few times over the last couple of weeks, up to temperature checking fans cut in etc. while I’ve been putting the suspension and brakes back together. It has sounded sweet, with no issues. Today I lowered the front axle stand setting...

    Spoon stirring

As others have said, return it and get another one. Even if you’re not paying much or any labour, parts still cost a fortune. What will you be left with once you’ve done the necessary work? It’ll still be a car with sketchy history, rough MOT history and hiding it’s paint under a wrap

For info, I sold my GT (Lj58afz), for £18.5k. 35k on the clock, full comprehensive service history from the same dealer (Joe Macari), no subframe rust, perfect colour combo of Grigio granito (the only non original paint was the front bumper, which I had resprayed due to stone chips) with sella...
