Yes indeed I had to learn the hard way- but long enough ago now that I can have a laugh about it. The guys are correct- you only need to pull the clutch pedal back 1mm to allow the fluid into the brake master cylinder and this has to be done on every pump of the pedal to draw the fluid...

I'm no mechanic but have successfully fitted 3 clutch's to my Spyder and 4200 over the last 12 years. Both are manual so no SD needed but it is labour intensive and takes me about 20 hours with tea breaks and flaffing around- thankfully I have a 2 post lift as without one would be a nightmare...

It's common on the manually actuated gearbox for the linkage pivot arm bushing to partly seize- especially if not used for some time. This will cause the cables to appear tight- thankfully with the car on a ramp it is easy to remove and clean/re grease the bushing (also doable on chassis stands...
