So.... I got the car back today, and will be investigating the issue tomorrow. Things I will be checking..... Visual inspection of exhaust mani for cracks Egr system Secondary air pump/valve Cylinder head for cracks Possible loose plug Compression test is there anything else I’m missing??

they are the same as the pre '00 vw golfs and audis etc

My noise comes along when accelerating, doesn’t matter what speed, even when pulling away from stand still. Should be getting the car back today so will be putting up on the ramp again. Will not let this beat me

I will do. If it’s not a loose plug or something noticeable when I get it back, I might do the lifters just to rule them out.

My has had the variators replaced recently. I did originally think maybe valve lifters, but lifter noise and exhaust manifold blow are completely different noises, and it sounds exactly like mani blow

No fault codes. Definitely not pinking. Is sounds like my old gmc jimmy lol

Hi all, Have an annoying ticking sound from the off side front. when accelerating pass parked cars or buildings,, im getting a very loud ticking sound which can best be described as an exhaust manifold blow. Ive inspected the exhaust system with no results of any leaks........ Any ideas?? 2008...
