good question just been out to check. After the poor baby has had a rest she does the same, central locking works 2/3 times then nothing.
Using the key seems to lock the door but both doors need locking separately then even after waiting a couple of minutes when trying the handle the window...

Just picked the car up from the garage and it seems to have got itself a new fault immediately. Pressing the key fob the central locking does work for 2/3 goes but sounds weak, it then stops working. I tried a reset for 20+ mins and the same thing it starts working again for 2/3 goes...

Yep they sell them and regularly service about 6 or so 4200's, it's called http://www.autofficina.co.uk/

Turns out the cables are all fine and good so it' something in the gearbox. The Garage is saying 10 hours to take the gearbox out and replace and 8 hours to deconstruct the gearbox and work out if the issue can be solved.
As a side note 1-6 all work like a dream just reverse that has got worse...

I have a 4200 GT which has always been difficult to get into one or another gear. I understand it's a set of pulleys and weights that need to be fine tuned to get the GT gear change working.
Well reverse has been a problem for some time but knowing the car I can usually get it to...
Thanks for that info as well, did have a look on line and saw some bits for circa £40 and others for £350. so must be the former. Really helps for the garage conversation.

Thanks and that makes sense as after some time I worked out it could only be locked from the passengers door which seems to be the offending door. Many thanks and off to the garage then.

This problem, door locking and unlocking occurred tonight but I seem to remember a similar problem a number of years ago that was solved...
