I know quite a few people who are anticipating buying an EV this winter in the hope they will save lots of money to cover the additional monthly payments above their current outlay... burn fingers I think... unless they get a very good deal (private purchases)

Inevitable, really. I read in the paper today (Sunday Times, likely others as well) that it's expected the government will start to tax EVs soon.
Must have a look. The low BIK offer is clearly just a kick start to get plenty of EVs on the road to make people think that is the way to go but the reduction in PRT and VAT from falling ICE sales is bound to influence government behaviour in due course.

I can't imagine any way that buying a car of any kind is less expensive than keeping one you already own. There are some really ****** up calculators out there.

I like the idea of the Honda e, but I do like quirky cars, not at 8k down, £449 a month then £16k after 3 years though.

It's probably just the retro design I like

That's actually a pretty cool looking car. But the money is screaming bloody mad. What an unbelievable waste!
But but, the money I'll save on fuel for the 4000 miles a year I do these days :D

I 100% get why they're selling hand over fist on motability, it's basically a free car and company cars with 2% BIK tax but anyone spending their own money on an EV to save a few quid on fuel is deluded

Last month I bought a 2007 60,000 mile Toyota auris 1.6 T spirit
It looks and drives like it's 3 years old, spec is
Climate
Keyless Central locking
Auto lights & wipers
4 electric windows
Pioneer Bluetooth stereo fitted
Full service history, serviced a month before I bought it
11 months MOT with no advisories
Fairly new branded tyres
It cost £2200 and will do everything and more that the Honda e will do because I won't be stopping every 2 hours to charge it up

That's not even bangernomics, it's just eminently sensible. Good move!

New car RRP is crazy,I was gobsmacked when I saw a BMW 320D estate was pushing £70,000 I'm sure it's only so they can talk you into £299 a month PCP deals
Wrong car, it was a 530e hybrid with the options boxes ticked

Read somewhere today that the government are planing introduce Road Fund Duty (carctax) for EV’s to help plug the “Truss Gap” …….. no great surprise and it was bound to happen.

I imagine we could see a tax on EV Comany cars as well at some point.
