If you have the CD changer under the steering wheel, then replace it with a loudlink

Eb
Why please?
My 5 slot cd changer worked well enough

will do.
What’s the forum protocol - post photos in a specific thread or just reply to these threads?
You can put them here or on the QPV page picture of the day even start a new thread.
We're very easy going and love to see each others cars.

i am looking at doing this. I have a couple of questions:
  • does the phone utilise the car speakers for calls?
  • where do you install the mic, in the cd changer or need to wire somewhere closer to the drivers mouth to pickup the input sound?

cheers.

  1. Yes. The car thinks it is the CD changer
  2. The loudlink replaces the CD changer. I have installed the mic in the rubber strip above the door around the window and run the wire behind it back to the loudlink somehow.

Loudlink worked for me mostly. An oddity is it turns the 'phone's music volume to 0 on each connection.
Apart from that and the below the toughest thing was getting the CD changer out!

It was unexpectedly expensive. Ts&Cs suggest VAT is included but it isn't uniquely for UK buyers. Which would be fine if it the VAT inclusive price wasn't charged but it is. Owner claims the last screen in the process tells you this but when challenged to show stops communicating.
Then the courier charges VAT on top and adds an admin fee.

Could be more transparent. Be aware and budget appropriately :)

I get hands free phone from a Jabra blue tooth gadget that clips to the driver's sun visor.
Simples.
VAT not an isssue.

Hello QP_V. I've tried banging my laptop but still can't see the pictures of your car. Am I doing something wrong?

So my order of priorities has now changed having done a full check-up on the car.

Order of priority;
  1. Under car corrosion protection (will go to SportsItalia)
  2. AC does not work. The fan blows out air but as soon as the AC button is pressed the fan powers down to 10% and doesn't blow out sufficient cold air.
  3. Washer jet issues - assuming it is the pump :(
After these basics are done;
  1. Sound system upgrade
  2. Leather seats restorations
  3. them stick buttons!!
