In my years I've seen it many times it's when the said person doing the job hasn't aligned the clutch disc properly and pull the box up to the motor tightening the bolts.
Thankfully dowels are cheap.

I have always aligned clutches by eye and never had a problem, I only bought a clutch alignment tool about three years ago when, quite literally there was one on the counter in the motor factors when I was collecting a clutch and I thought why not.

Hope you find a set of dowels ok Phil.

Totally agree Newton and I have a Snap On set bought in the late 70's still like new.
Wouldn't like to put a number on how many clutches I have fitted by eye.
These days wearing glasses most of the time I now use the tool :)

Using things reminds me about this:

A couple of car forums is about the closest I get to social media, when we first stated dateing the Ms didn’t think I existed as when you google me not much comes up, basically a list of triathlon and motor racing results with a few photos. This below being the first one, which when you clicked on it took you to a forum where I was apparently a hideous person, who had committed crimes against humanity second only to Pol Pot for treating a classic car in such a way!

PS entirely my fault I didn’t expect the bloke in front to basically stop to go round the corner.

That platform must be one of the most milked ever. 2 door, 4 door, Spyder, a whole host of different names and bodykits. I can’t say I’m a fan of that period but to each his own. It’s got a feel of desperation, a dead end and no money to innovate. You can understand why Maserati was given to Ferrari at that point as it was going nowhere. I’m sure many now enjoy the cars but as a brand there was certainly a problem. I’ll run now..

I don’t disagree. When is first got into cars it was the era of the these cars so that’s the models that first pulled me to the marque and the Ghibli Cup was the first Maserati I truly yearned for but some of those Maserati from that era I look at know and think what we’re they doing. Best thing that happened to Maserati was getting in bed with Ferrari and the first car that started them designing beautiful cars again the 3200.
