FINALLY DECIDED TO SELL THE 4200..........ADVICE ON WHERE/HOW TO SELL & PRICE?

I've been wobbling and dithering for a couple of years now about whether to keep the 4200 or not. However, I have decided that it should be sold now as just not getting much if any opportunity to drive it. I've had it for just over 7 years and the last couple of years the mileage has really dropped off. Of course Covid didn't help but we are now working through some family health issues so I can't realistically see this changing any time soon. Part of the reason I haven't been on here so much too. Of course it doesn't cost much to run or keep if you don't use it much but it seems crazy for it to sit there so much not being enjoyed.

Many know the car and have seen it at shows/events over the years. It is one of the best I know out there and spent its life under a cover in a dehumidified garage when not in use and never seen a winter. Voicey has seen it several times the last few years and can vouch for it sp is happy to do me a report/PPI to anyone interested as there is little to nothing wrong with it or needing doing. It is not far off a new car really.

Just ticked over only 15k miles and a very late 2007/07 car. I think it has been serviced every year since new regardless of mileage so 15 or 16 services. A real pampered garage queen.

I guess my issue is where and how to sell it. It will need little to no prep to retail at a dealer but doesn't seem to make sense to sell retail at a dealer I don't think. I guess it depends but doesn't much risk buying a car so well looked after with so low miles I wouldn't have thought compared to a much higher miler or less looked after car.

I might be interested in a swap as sold my work Outlander and looking for something like a Q7 for a family do it all daily kind of thing. Doesn't affect selling the 4200 of course and an unlikely swap I would suggest. Bought a cheap Cayenne recently to run around in for work and have been very impressed with it for the money. Great VFM.

Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas or how or where might be best to sell my 4200? Also what kind of price I should expect to sell it for in the current market?

If it was me I would let Dicky sell it under the counter even if it takes 6-12 months to get the right price. No idea what this is mind!
Thanks ;)

Well I have never seen that before......seems like we had the exact same post count with those two messages at 8627.

I'd also consider 'collecting cars' or 'the market' with a sensible reserve.

A GS that looked quite average (only 50K miles) with an underside covered in a fair bit of rust just sold for strong money.

I bought my Chimaera from a guy that had it on Collecting Cars originally but he was messed around by them and the buyer so it became available as the sale didn't go through on Collecting Cars.

Are there any other 4200’s for sale on the forum, I am sure there was another rather nice one available - might give an indication on price / value.

Gees, that doesn't look a great example! Chalk and cheese to my queen I guess. Gives a good indication of value though.

Tough one as although I can return mine to stock easily I've spent a fair bit to make it I feel better for me than stock. Might make more sense for someone who sees it the same and see value in the changes rather than return to stock in the first instance maybe.

It has suspension setup to GS specs done by Voicey as always felt a stock 4200 sat a smidge too high. It has valved rear Larinis, extended carbon fibre paddles, OEM 4200 carbon fibre steering wheel and grigio mercury GS alloys.

Not sure if it would be better to return to stock and sell all the bits separate or leave as is for someone who might prefer it more as it is.
