When fitting Larini Sport Cats and X pipe are there any other parts one might require?

I understand your concern even in standard form they are loud, but don’t be hasty live with it for a few weeks. I put a standard X on my Strad but didn’t like the tone, too much rasp.
I have swapped it for an H pipe which gives me the deeper tone I was after but it is significantly louder and I may go back to stock after LeMans, we shall see.
As you say, in the grand scheme of things a few hundred quid playing with the options is not really an issue.
My local guy charged me £56 incl vat

It is a shame that the characteristic deep burble Maserati sound does disappear somewhat and I think you’ll find it is the sport cats that does that. There was very little, to no change in tone, when I fitted an X-pipe to my 4.7 MC shift. I understand your conundrum.

Interesting. When i was doing lots of research before buying lots of people were saying it was the x pipe that made it a little raspy and the cats kept the sound the same, but just 30% more volume.. Not sure which is right now TBH. Im defo not going to change the CATS as they wake up the car, but as Scaf has said. Im not going to rush into a trial switch just yet. Will wait a month or two. Cheers for the info.

Agree. will wait a month or two. My guy is £45 inc VAT per hr - so a couple of hrs with him i could to the standard X and see how it drives, then switch back to the Larini X if i prefer that set up. £90 to know for sure. Will enjoy the craziness for a while. :D

Like you, I changed both the cats & centre pipe at the same time so cannot comment on each part individually.
In terms of the volume levels, for me, I live very rurally & isolated so it is not an issue for cold start up for example, but what I find is for motorway driving in sport (not race) mode, the car was too quiet inside as OEM and I wanted to be able to hear more of engine & exhaust note from in the cabin with the windows closed. The combination I have does this perfectly and then for more fun, race mode gets switched on to terrorise my passengers and anyone else in the close vicinity.

I can still remember on my road trip to Italy driving up a mountain valley through the alps giving the MC shift a good working out. I arrived in a village and stopped for coffee at a a cafe who said they had been able to hear me coming for the past 15mins :p

Fantastic... marvellous story. Would love to do that.

I have to say, it took a moment for me to realise it was a compliment and not a moan

when my neighbours say it, it’s more of a back handed compliment :D

Nice and aggressively loud, personally I do miss that characteristic GT burble over the raspiness, but that’s just me getting old probably :)
How are the dipped engine covers holding up to the heat?

Hi Bebs. I also have the exact same feelings to be honest. The deep tone for me is missed on certain occasions that is true. I think what is gained though outweighs the loss IMO. The "nastiness" and aggression is such a giggle. I do find that "howl" at low speed and revs is even much more prominent - albeit a little higher pitch. The in car volume is 30% louder with windows closed and with them open its just nuts. :D Only thing i don't quite like is that "metallic hollow pitch" its gives at certain lower revs and speeds. Minor issue for the gains. The responsiveness is defo there. feels quicker that gaining 25+ HP IMO ( i did the cats, x pipe and air filter) so i reckon its getting close to 500 BHP.
On the engine covers. 100% all good. Looks like they are very durable.

Thanks for the comments, it’s certainly difficult with a YouTube iPhone clip as well, you never get the true sound picture. I can well believe it has gained bhp. I used to run decat titanium exhaust on my 360 and the throttle response was vastly improved. You just need Matt’s remap now and I’m sure you’ll be running near 550, the F136 is very much ‘turned down’ from factory..

Be interesting to hear with the standard x pipe if you plan to do that.

Next time a few of us are together (LeMans perhaps) we should do some real life comparisons.

I am lovin my H - so have a less than 1000 mile X pipe as supplied by SI available if someone is looking.
