Spent the morning looking at Corvette ZR1s of the C6 variety. Look much fun.

I know they’re 650bhp, which was a lot in 2006 but couldn’t quite bring myself to pay that much. You could have a 997 Turbo or a Strad or an Alpina B6. Or even a GS and a QP and a normal Corvette for the same price.

I think the Lotus engineered C4 ZR1is currently undervalued though.

I found the 997 Turbo a little numb when I drove it. Very impressive and very fast, and very very accelerative (as you'd expect), but cornering seemed to be 'just something it did' in between straights.
Was reading a PH story about a Z06 today and it mentioned that the ZR1 had too much engine for the car. Sounds right up my street, that...

How "over-wheeled" does that look for it's time..?!
( and those corner indicator glasses...)

I agree, a DOHC 5,7 all aluminum v8 is cracking. Prices are going up though, and rebuild parts are as bad as Mas parts.
There are some great tales of its development, mostly by fax, between Hethel and the US. Apparently each location would come into the office with reams of paper stretching into the hall…

Looks absolutely stunning.
What does she sound like ?

Sounds like a NASCAR at idle. I thought it was loud because it was inside the garage. Apparently not! Not sure it’ll pass noise regs though seems a lot louder than the Mini.

Don’t think the brakes are right, might need a bit of head scratching, that one.

Seeing your approach on your Cars mate you will get there.
So what's the next project then ?

I'm hesitant to suggest this, I don't like putting anything on a car that doesn't have purpose, but, as beautiful as a C3 is, they just don't look right with the bumpers removed. Over here some guys take aluminum tape ( the hvac duct kind, real alum. not "duck tape") and cap the molded 'glass where the bumpers would be. I guess it would stop air flow through the open holes .
Outstanding job Oneball, can't wait for some track video with sound. I bet she will draw more attention than a Lambo.

I actually quite like them without the bumpers. But then I quite like the impact bumper ones too
