Agreed, in the case of the self-dipping lights. I had a Merc which had them. They just annoyed oncoming traffic because they were too slow to self-di[. I was faster so stopped using them.
The new-age sci-fi LED ones are a bit super smart and apparently stay on full-beam pretty much all the time but don't shine at oncoming traffic. It's pretty neat stuff, but I'm told they work really well. They also have their own computer-wizardry built into the headlights and, I suspect are keyed to the car, so nicking them likely wouldn't be much use. Like stealing a new set of keys for your car.
