Great photos. I learnt to waterski a long time ago on Windermere. It was always fun dodging the chain on the ferry.
Me too.
Was 9 years old when I first started to ski on Windermere, in the hot summer of '76.
Progressed to mono skiing in my teens, always a single ski wet start guy too!
I'll Ski behind anything.
32 foot Fairline Sedan most fun, would pop me straight up and a massive wake to play with, not quite Miss Cumbria sized... extended tow rope required though.
Mostly behind either a Sims Super Vee jet drive, not really powerful enough for mono wet starts, or a Dateline Bounty.
That was dangerous, it had a Mercruiser V6 205 sterndrive, it was really too heavy for the hull and looked like it was sinking. Dateline never fitted another! Was super fast though. Either a 21" prop for ultimate speed... or 19" prop for insane acceleration.
Happy days.
All ended in 1990 when my parents separated unfortunately.
So inconsiderate!!
Last time I skied was a few years ago on a wild river in South Africa. After passing all the wild life I made sure I didn't fall over!!
