Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio - who owns one and is it epic?

These days it's not just about the performance because speed cameras and dashcams are everywhere.

The XFR might be better in a lot of respects but it's still a supercharged V8 in a grandad's slipper

It's how a car makes you feel , the Giulia stops me dead every time I see one , I can say with total honesty if I came into a fortune and could buy any car I wanted my first stop would be the Alfa dealer
Doubt the Jag would hold light to Alfa on the handling front as Its too heavy.

Been in a Giulia at nearly180mph around Spa, very impressed, I thought I was still fairly sharp but
Ricardo Patrese who was driving was on another planet!

I gently disagree and suggest the XFR is the pinnacle of the sports saloon. Truly epic engine, handles well, and has a gorgeous and high quality interior to boot. Just a shame it’s no longer available new.

I do love an XFR too. In fact I was just about to buy a lovely 2013 one in BRG with tan leather when the QP Sport GTS I have now came up for sale which I bought instead.

The guilia will do the ‘sport’ part of sports saloon better than the XFR, being much lighter and having better steering.

It is a shame the jag is not made anymore and I think is another car now very cheap for what you get for the money and the best ones have slowed right down in terms of depreciation. Will probably start rising soon. Great cars.

To be fair I felt the same but they do look much better in the flesh...

i have only seen the standard Coupe as one went past me on the motorway last week and from a distance in my rear view mirror it looked like it had been in an accident. Not nice at all.....

I’m a big M fan Andy as you know but with the M3 BMW were genuinely loosing to the Alfa and hence the all new mental model to beat it....new Quadrofoglio due in 2022 well facelift, that will take the crown again, on AO they think it’ll have 568bhp due to some testing etc they read

i think with the new model they didn’t need to make it so ugly to make a statement. You can already get an aftermarket front end upgrade which to my eyes looks much better and turns an ugly pig into and rather good looking car.84601

My local Alfa garage has Quadrofoglio 2018 in comp red, 24k miles, all extras inc apple car play, £39k, which when you think about the car 3 years ago being 70k it’s VFM

what other car will give you the smiles, speed and modern tech for this money?

I do like the Alfa but they all need the carbon seats as the standard ones just do look special enough for me. The carbon ones are gorgeous and give a real sense of occasion.

Even with VRT the UK price is cheaper than buying one local, new price without options

And the only used one for sale today

@zagatoes30 buy a manual V8 R8. There’s currently an error on the VRT system meaning VRT is only €2000. Act quickly as it won’t last forever.

They’re cool looking but uncomfortable. I’d go standard seats.

Well that is disappointing. Why have they put seats in that are not comfortable. The carbon ones in my M3 CSL were brilliant and better than the standard M3 seats. The Vantage ones also I have sat in are supurb.

I've heard the same re the lightweight Vantage seats, Andy. The first Vantage I looked at was a V12S Flugplatz Blue roadster with the lightweights. Special thing, but it had the older style, cluttered interior controls layout, which I didn't like. Anyway, you can now get aftermarket carbon seats from ECPS in Poland. Which is tempting (but Mrs Crud loves heated seats, which the lightweights are not).

Back on topic, I do love the QF. Wonderful thing. If I could justify buying another car, that would be high on the list.

My tuppence worth.
I think the Giulia QF is a nice car, fab performance (apparently), looks are ok, great to see Alfa getting some credits etc
Do I wanna really buy one? Not really.

I think it’s a bit of a bargain right now, probably even better value second hand in a year or two.

It’s kind of meh, if you’re getting older and sensible , like me.
You can’t use the performance on the road, you’ll lose your licence. Track it, you’ll **** it.

For 30+k you cannot beat a GTS or Granturismo, which at 30mph makes you feel special.

As long as the Italians do the styling and the French do the electrics, no wait, the French do the styling and Italians do the electrics. That doesn’t work either. Vauxhall does the styling, the Americans do everything else. Ok they’re just buggered.
Vauxhall, fu** me, if anyone still drives those things by choice they definitely need counseling!

There’s a dealers by the office in Crewe, I walked past a few months ago and they make cars that I never knew existed. They’ve even got a Viva, coz the last one was such a shining piece of automotive engineering.

Not much of a surprise they’ve not sold any. Despite all the press nonsense about the cloverleaf the range was just a bit naff. Maserati have sold more Ghibli 3s I think.

So no good for the future.....Oh hold on. May not be good enough but Maserati still to use it for the Grecale. No surprise there. Another 4x4 that Maserati are 10 years too late to the party.
