Don’t know the answer, but I did read this morning that research has now indicated that you are more likely to die from a blood clot arising from catching COVID than you are from a blood clot arising from having a vaccine. I’ll take my chances with the vaccine thank you very much.

I did read something that indicated the current belief was that the class of vaccine was the issue. But yes, the risk is still crazy low. Had my first jab, second due in June

Before @Wattie gets here, I guess someone should quickly say on his behalf that this may depend on your age, and other factors. My understanding is that you are more likely to die from a blood clot arising from a long-haul flight, taking the Pill, having a bad case of COVID, or reading some of the posts in this thread, than from the vaccine, but that your likelihood of catching and dying from COVID in general is very dependent on your circumstance and location.

Hence Denmark saying, a little strangely, but maybe logically, "The AZ vaccine is pretty safe and people should generally have it, but here in Denmark we are not giving it because we are almost all vaccinated now, so the (tiny) COVID risk is lower than the (tiny) vaccine risk."

Today while walking the dog I passed a mobile testing station as I approached I noticed a guy coming to me from 3 o clock - Excuse me sir would you like to have a Covid test - Told him I was vaccinated to which he said -Thats a common misperception that you can t have covid or pass it on just because you are vaccinated . I was thinking all I need is a false positive and I m under house arrest so I declined his offer .
Anyone who thinks we are getting out of this BS soon is deluded IMO How long before there s a new variant which they will claim requires another lockdown and vaccine - but on the positive side the flu deaths are way down if any at all .
Did he then ask the dog?

A lot of people who believe they had Covid in December may be getting confused with a nasty viral infection that was doing the rounds in November/December.
I was unfortunate enough to pick it up when I was at Centre Parcs in December. I felt like death warmed up for a week.

However, that was nothing compared to when I got (suspected) Covid at the end of February, which was far far worse.
Could be, we will never know.

I'll be having my second AZ jab in the morning, 11 weeks after the first. I was offered it a couple of weeks ago, but was away working so had to re-book.

I'm hoping it'll be just as much of a non event as the first, with very little side effects.
My wife had her first 2 weeks ago and was on the sofa for 3 days (VERY unlike her) with zero energy at all.

With our daughter back in nursery, and all the germ spreading that goes on there, we feel much happier now we both have some protection.

Had my 2nd as planned on Wednesday. No achy arm this time (I think due to the nurse taking her time with the jab) but the slightly achy/fidgety legs I had with the first one, was definitely more obvious this time, and I was far more tired than after the first. All of which only last a day though , so all good!

I suppose that's that for me now.........until winter anyway lol.

46, and my 1st jab on Saturday (Moderna) sore arm Sunday, but all good today.

Here’s hoping the 2nd is the very same ‘non-event’ in a good way.

Got my invite for vaccine from Belgian health service but I’ve already had my first one in U.K. and I’m due there this weekend. Better practice ‘Hard French’ to explain to pharmacy

Mother in law has just been in hospital for 2 days after the AZ here in Oz.
Multiple tests, scans, etc and she was released yesterday thankfully.
She is over 70, has underlying issues in and is on the very large side.
She’s Travelling to NZ on Saturday under our bubble arrangements So she’s glad she didn’t wait until this week to have it.

Mate,
A bit of advice given to me many years ago was look at the mother to give you an idea as to how the daughter might become ;)
In all seriousness I hope she is okay.
My mother in law is in NZ now from New Caledonia after 2 weeks quarantine in a Auckland Airport hotel which was very secure she told us.
Stay Safe all.

Step Mother in law mate ;)

might not get there.... worker had been FULLY vaccinated.

Auckland Airport worker tests positive for COVID-19
It comes after the first quarantine-free flights from Australia arrived in the country on Monday, with the opening of the trans-Tasman bubble.

We had our first doses on Saturday lunchtime. AZ vaccine. Some minor 'flu like symptoms on Saturday evening / Sunday, but nothing that Paracetamol/Ibuprofen couldn't address. Felt fine apart from a tender left arm by Monday.

In terms of the relative risks of blood clots, I found the following charts from the Winton Centre in Cambridge helpful (click through for more).

This shows the risk of ICU admission from Covid vs the risk of blood clots from the vaccine (assuming 80% vaccine effectiveness).

84469
84470
84471

These show, even in the low exposure group, for 40-49 year-olds the risk of Covid are 10 times greater than those of the vaccine. For the moderate exposure group it's 33 times greater and for the high exposure group more than 100 times. In older age groups the risk/reward ratio is even better.

I've been invited by my GP Practice for my second AZ jab on Tuesday next week.
This is exactly 7 weeks from my first.
Anyone else had it significantly earlier than the 12 weeks?

I don’t know anyone here in Denmark who is vaccinated......

Hope not, I’m basing my return to uk based on taking it in wk 12. Thought the greatest efficacy was at 77-84 days.

I had my second AZ yesterday 12 weeks minus 2 days after my first - a bit ahead of the curve because I've been volunteering with the roll-out. And booking was a bit of a challenge - computer said I'd refused/hadn't turned up for my second! - I ignored that as hadn't even had the invite. So far all good - and hoping it stays like for the Hatfield gathering.

Of our neighbours went to book to be told she'd already had it.

Still with an operation of this scale there's always going to be a few issues
