great combination for me - as ever just need to find the money. The service history is photographed in more detail than the work carried out!
Most recent service was five years ago and only a/c work since. Not great. The timing belts last documented at 77,723km which was soon after August 2011 work. Many mentions of rear shock leaks which is $$$ for the self-levelling units fitted. On the plus side new clutch fitted at 79,504km so likely plenty of life in that.
Good to keep an eye on the market but this one shows only sparing application of mechanical attention. Could be a good starter car with a fund for backlog of repairs.
Looks so good though

How times have changed :| Even taking out the 850 CSI, you'd have about £200k-250k's worth of cars there, if all of them were mint low-milers. Maybe more...

Yeah super low milers but could buy some decent examples of all of those for £100k ish.

BMW 850CSi £38k
BMW Z3M Coupe £15k
RenaultSport Clio 182 Trophy or V6 £6k or 15k for latter.
Pug 205 Gti 1.9 £9k
Porsche 944 S2 or 928 GTS £28k
Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000 (UK model standard) £10k
Mazda MX5 Mk1. £3k
Mercedes-Benz SL500 £8k
Lotus Elise S1 - £14k

Not far over to be fair. Nearer 100k than £250k... I agree though if you wanted minter low milers for sure the higher end,

Quite by accident we passed the 'The Classic Motor Hub' yesterday, where my Maserati is stored.

Were invited to have a private walk around of their showrooms... some stunning cars there from £6.2m and below... should arrange a SW group drive down there once their Cafe reopens.

Not sure where those values come from; some of those estimates would buy an OK to good car at fair to high mileage, but some of those estimates would only buy a rough example needing significant spend and/or a 'story'.
(Just a personal view).

Maybe just me, but I see most of them as just ok, but nothing to aspire to. Good job we are all different. :)

£39K - no cam belt service in the last ten years and over 20K kms...No questions fielded during the auction...!

seem like a fair price. Decent looking car with sparse mechanical attention.
As with every "bargain" the cost to make it as good as the best models would be prohibitive. Certainly one for an enthusiast to enjoy driving, improve and keep.

I see the 612 is getting to be quite appealing... well price wise, if not on looks, but is growing on me.

I always fancied a 456M, although I think the 612 would be a safer bet as regards parts availability.

I’ve grown to like the 612 but its looks will always be a bit off... in most cases it looks like an overweight 599.

The 456 in comparison looks svelte and understated and has more of a classic Ferrari look, stylistically its also fairly differentiated from the contemporary 550 but as I said before the 612 and 599 share a lot of basic design cues.

599 is way out my price range and although I prefer the looks of the 456, its reliability puts me off... with c10 years of petrol driving left before we are taxed to oblivion its an itch I need to scratch soon.

I like the 612 always have, tried to convince my mate to buy one a couple of times but the closest I got was coming back from Le Mans we meet a guy with one in Cherbourg who took him for a quick spin he was convinced all the way until he got home and mentioned it to his wife :(

I think the Ferrari 612 is a stunning car. No objections from Mrs FIFTY either she likes them too

Maybe they will still be underrated enough in a few(many) years when I can afford/justify one - my main objection in reality is that they are massive on the road.
