Keyless entry

Hi just picked up a 2017 quattroporte gransport at weekend and was wondering if the keyless entry can be turned of. Scared of the keyless theft problem.
We had it turned off on the Range Rover we had for this reason and never missed it.

Yes, it's in the menus somewhere as passive entry. You can turn it off so the doors will always require the button on the remote to be pressed to open or lock them. The car will still do keyless start I think but that's from my memory of owning a Ghibli so it could be different on a QP perhaps.

Should also stop the windows going up and down when you go near door handles with jet wash and the key in your pocket. Lol.

The bottom toolbar on the main centre screen. Mine's a 2015, although I guess they'll be the same.

That’s great thanks. I’ll give it a go tomorrow. Just got a couple of faraday key cases just in case.

Just looked in my manual (2015 Ghibli) and I think (!) it’s:

Settings > doors and locks > passive entry.

Good luck!

On the Range Rover you sit in car with door open and press the light button on the fob 3 times then the door lock. Might be the same on a jag.

Might have to take a look in the manual then, not seen anything in the dashboard screen menus. If not I will ask the dealer at the next service.

Do you ever think that keyless entry is purely a gimmick too far?

Likewise aero ducts/spoliers/diffusers that do absolutely nothing...

Yes, it's technology for technology's sake. IMHO it's a solution looking for a problem, and when you look at the rise in keyless thefts it would seem to be more trouble than it's worth.
