Blimey.....I thought mine was low at 15k miles for a 2007/07 4200. At 8k miles that is bonkers. Do you never use it? What year is it? Any pics?

These are a couple of poor phone ones from the last time I had it out. I am not quite sure how it ended up as a bit of a garage queen, it was never the plan, but life sometimes gets in the way.

It is a 2005 plate car, would have to check the log book but I think it is 2 owners including me from memory.

The last time it was out it did Sheffield to Edinburgh round trip and never skipped a beat, drives like a new car, but It is run regularly, its not like its locked up and left.

Edit this, I lied to you all  I checked my MOT history, its done 9900 now......I was sat here as I wrote it had done Edinburgh to Sheffield thinking that was nearly 700 miles in one hit with the route we took.

I feel like a fake now haha

Very nice....looks lovely. Can't beat a facelift 4200 for me.

Exactly right - why settle for anything less?! These cars are so special.

Years ago I tried to explain this to one of my friends who thought I was crazy for buying a 3 year old Maz on a balloon finance deal. He called it “Frod-o-nomics”!

But why would I pay the same each month for the privilege of having a new or nearly new mainstream “prestige” on the drive, when I could have a Trident instead (which had already lost over half its value)?

It’s a total no-brainer...

Bargains really compared to so much other dull dross out there.

When £5k price level cars are going up I much know what I'd rather have
Sorry a bit OT but just noticed you seem to have a similar taste in cars to me .. i.e have 4200, an XJL, had a 156 GTA 3.2 (twice), had a number of TVRs.. and I’ve been toying with looking for a low miles 206 180 GTi... and I see you have one. Would be interested to hear what you think of them ?

Great taste

To be honest I have driven it once when I viewed it and drove it home! Then it has sat in my garage with an occasional drive round the block. So not really had a chance t get to know it. I know straight away it is not as good as the GTi-6 but it still is good and a heck of a lot of fun.

I bought it from an old couple who had it from new and outside/inside it is almost as new. It has done 21k miles so I jumped at the chance of buying it.

To have the cars you have you must be like me and like to squeeze great VFM and find good cars with good value. The XJL SuperSport is a bargain.

Whereabouts are you based?

I'm Bell Bar, just in-between Potters Bar and Hatfield.

ooh that’s very close ... I’m near near Kings Langley... once this round of lockdown is done I might need to beg to have a look at the 206 . I just missed one on AT with 35k. As soon as my email alert pinged me I called but someone had already put a deposit on it. What colour ? Sadly my XJL is just the the 3.0d Portfolio, but yes I felt was a bargain.. £17k at 48k and 5 years .. £73k new .

There’s no import duty on UK and EU produced goods being sold/imported/exported between the two. So a second hand Maserati moving between the UK and the EU attracts no import duty/tax.

Not sure this is entirely correct, all second hand cars being imported here from the UK are now subject to an Irish VAT fee and import duty, VRT remains as was which for anything less than 30 years old is based on the revenues valuation of the car and its emissions

Yes, only 20 mins down the road from me. Sure, your welcome to have a look and take the 206 for a spin. Mint except for old person driving kerbing every alloy so need to get the alloys refurbed.

Nothing is rusty except the brake discs and they are the worst I've seen! It past its MOT last time fine and brakes fine. The back of the disc has about 10mm of friction surface usable The face is fine and they work fine so hilarious to see them. The MOT guy laughed and said they are some of the worst discs backs but work totally fine. I guess it proves on a light car you don't need so massive braking performance!

Will get the brakes changes and wheels refurbed this year.

Got another garage to build now the weather is better but towards the end of a large new office build at home so that has take a fair bit of my time last few months.

The XJL is Statos Grey but almost black to look at. Same VFM ideals as me. I bought it I think 4 years ago maybe now at 6 years old for £16.5k and was just over £100k list new. Crazy VFM. Double glazed LWB luxury with a 500bhp Supercharged V8. But of a grandad sleeper really. Faster than the Maser real world but I think the Chimaera will be much faster if able to be driven well.
