I've found something new to splurge money on, a turntable that cost more than a car when new

obviously it wants fixing

Came out of a BBC radio station 20 years ago , working when removed but stored for all that time so probably needs the capacitors looking at.

It cost DM 12,000 in 1979

I've got a repair guy looking at it on Monday

It's amazing what you find if you ask , bought another turntable off a guy , asked if he had anything else
Yes I've got this old thing

Ooooo :D

The problem I've got now is when it's been checked over I've GOT to try it out , hopefully it doesn't sound fantastic as it's not very wife friendly

I think it's made out of lead :D

Here's a challenge.

I'm thinking of converting a 4m by 2.74m bedroom into a cinema/audio room and occasional guest bedroom. It has a built-in cupboard which I plan to use to put all the equipment but what would be a good setup? You have a £5k budget to fit a sofa bed, screen, speakers, turntable, CD player, amp/av reciever, dvd player. I already have an apple tv box. A plan is below. 78975

I was trying to work out how much 12,000 Deutsche Marks was in 1979

4 DM to the £ in 1979

12,000DM = £3000

£3,000 in 1979 = £15,000 today

A fiat strada cost £3044 in 1979 so yes, it was the price of a car when new

I suspect you'll do well looking at the What Hi-Fi A-list then heading to Richer Sounds (which is a company I have no hesitation in recommending)

I'd look at one of the dolby atmos sound bars with sub and Bluetooth rears for the sound , 1080p projector would be good enough , at 4k resolution most of your budget would go on projection and sound

Also look at throw distance for the size of screen , that determines where you site the projector

Have a look on AVforums classifieds , they're constantly upgrading so there's usually good stuff for sale on there

That's a useful tool that.

I bought a new phone without a headphone socket. I've got some Bluetooth jabra over ear hheadphones which sound great but they're a bit cumbersome out of the house so today I bought some Sony Bluetooth ones

What HiFi gave them 5 stars and they're not wrong , they sound amazing

Well that's not gone so well

they were in the charging case in my pocket , I got in the van, as I drove off they fell out of my pocket into the footwell

I got out , picked it up and put it on the seat

20 minutes later I open the case and it’s empty , found one one the floor , the other one is gone , must’ve fell out onto the floor and I didn’t notice

I paid for them on my credit card , I’ve not even had the bill yet

Wrote to Sony asking them if I could buy just the LH one

Thank you for contacting Sony support.

And that is precisely the problem with Bluetooth headphones. I’d lose one within 10 minutes if I wore them outside. Cannot risk it so stick with cheap JVC ones.

Sorry to hear of your problems Wack. Somewhere out there is someone that’s lost the other one. If you put you single one on eBay I bet you sell it.

I found a pair of the Apple ones on a bench in London but despite holding them up and asking around, no one claimed them. Still have them if you want them but I think you need to pair them with a charger or something. Look brand new to me.

I don't know if the apple ones work with android but if they do that'd be great , are you sure you don't want to keep them, you'd probably pick up a charging case on ebay easily enough

I can't tell you how ****** off I am about it.

Sony aren't exactly being helpful with their send it back so we can have a look at it offers

I'm either getting replies from a bot or they want me to send the RH one Iback though I'm fairly sure if I do i'll get a letter asking why I've only sent one

BECAUSE I'VE ******* LOST ONE

A couple of years ago I set off from home and realised I’d left my phone. Turned around and went back for it. Looked all over the house but no phone. Gave up and went back out to the car and there it was on the drive crushed as I’d just run over it.

They’re yours if you want them, Wack. I’d only lose one! They’re currently in my London flat which I can’t travel to but as soon as I am allowed I will retrieve them and message you.
