My end of month weigh in shows me reaching a truly remarkable milestone (for me) ..... i have lost 3 stone this year :)

To 'celebrate' I decided to try a 10k run for the first time in about 15 years and amazed that my mind managed to trick my knackered fat rugby playing body to run that far without stopping. Didnt quite crack the hour mark but super pleased all the same.

The proper liquid celebration will occur later....
Hawk, 3 stone is incredible!
Very well done, that’s an amazing feat.

Went into work on Monday. Decided that I'd wear the suit I'd had made just before lockdown for the first time. Effing tight round the middle. :(

Six months of gin and no gym has taken it's toll.

On a positive, and much more relevant to me, my BP today measured 120/70. A massive improvement of a year ago when it was close to 200/100!!!!
Well done u. They say Bp is a silent killer because u don’t realize it’s a problem.
My bp is high.
What have you done to lower it that much? Lifestyle changes or other. Please share.

Only lifestyle changes. Lost a bit of weight, started exercising again, cut down on drink, still enjoy copious wine though :) , but cut out most of the spirits. Just enjoying life with minimal stress. (Sorry, I know the last part may be difficult for many in these times.)

Hi all,

Some very impressive results being achieved on here. Losing 3st is amazing!

I’ve done less well, but am gearing up for a final push leading up to Christmas. This includes doing Sober October, and possibly November...

On 1st Jan this year I weighed 95.5kg (15st) and when I weighed myself this morning I was 87.4kg (13st 11lb)… clearly this is better than nothing, but I’d really like to get under 83Kg (13st) by the end of the year, and that means I need to start now.

My plan is weekly weigh ins, no booze, and at least 30 mins exercise every day... I’m also going to use this thread to keep me focused

Week 1 - 87.4kg

That’s an amazing difference - a wardrobe changing one I bet. Don’t buy too much tho cos you’re gonna need even smaller sizes with that determination.

Great stuff on here, chaps!

Having decided that I was drinking FAR too much, and that I really needed to do something about it, I’m on day 33 of my 90 day alcohol-free challenge. I’ll be happy with 60 days, but will try to make 90.

BP on day 1 was 141/95; today it’s 123/79
Weight on day 1 was 83.3 kg; today it’s 81.2 kg.

There are c. 7700 calories in a kilo of human fat, and that’s about 12 bottles of wine. And then there are the hungover munchies, and the sluggishness, which accelerate the weight gain.

I’ve not dieted (quite the opposite). My anxiety and stress levels have reduced significantly, and it’s so much easier getting through the day without that dreaded foggy feeling. I’ve barely had a cross word with my wife and kids; my skin is hydrated and less reddened, and my eyes and teeth are whiter.

I’d really recommend this to everybody!

So now that the challenge is out there, I’ll keep you updated (and myself accountable) ...

Keep up the good work, everyone!

Several on here are doing way better than me, and rightly so, with their level of commitment. I just can’t be doing with cutting anything out (least of all claret, gin, port, chocolate, etc). But I have managed to loose fat and gain muscle by adding in more gym time.

Overall I’ve lost about 16 lbs since Jan 1st, and my bench press is back at 100kg for the first time in years, so I’m happy enough.

The aim is to dip under 16st by Christmas, get my Wattbike 10 mile time under 24.30 and keep the weights up.

Mine is clearly not a fast diet (!), but it’s one I can stick to as there’s no missing out.

Hi all,

Week 2 of my renewed push to try and get some more weight off before Christmas. My plan is weekly weigh ins, no booze for at least October (I may extend to November) and at least 30 mins of heart rate elevating exercise every day...

1st October - 89.0kg @28% body fat
3rd October - 87.4kg @ 26.5% body fat
10th October 86.2kg @ 26.0% body fat

Goal for this week is to introduce at least one weights session so that I can try to maintain the same muscle mass and only lose fat...
