Gotta be careful with that as they’ll ask who the main driver is.......and they’re wise to it.
dont think keano was suggesting misleading them but to simply add named drivers which does indeed lower the premium sometimes

Both my wife and I are named drivers on both kids cars with my kids correctly disclosed as the main drivers and it does reduce the premium.

Add extra (older) drivers to the policy as it can help bring it down - spreading of risk

That was literally the first thing we tried, and the insurance company stated that they got wise to that a couple of years ago and the fact is that it's his car and he's the main driver.

As above, black box is out of the question.

As an extreme measure, I guess if he put the V5 in my name, at his address, and I took out the policy in my name on "my" car, and added him as a named driver that would work.

Not sure whether that exploits a loophole or is actually an offence of some description though.

I’d question the validity of that.
Did you try some of the others listed above.....surely Jaguar want Jaguar drivers!

No, that is deemed to be 'fronting'and will result in the policy being voided. This is now enforced to stop parents insuring thier kids cars.

One of my salesman, a particularly effective 21 year old, has decided to by a 2 year old V6 F-type Jag.

Insurance is proving to be difficult to find.

Can anyone here help?

He was offered cover by one company that then withdrew their offer after he agreed to pay the ridiculous amount of money they were asking for. Understandably he's very annoyed about this!

He's collecting the car on Saturday!
Thats bad news as now he will have to declare the insurance refusal on any subsequent requests for quotes. :(

i think you may be at crossed purposes, it's perfectly normal and acceptable to be the stated main driver as owner and registered keeper and then add named drivers such as parents

Good luck to him, but it’s somewhat of a rookie mistake to commit to buying such a car at 21 before checking he can get insurance first.
Maybe he could buy a £1000 ‘daily driver’ too, get a multi car policy and add it on with a limited mileage.

In fairness, he did have an insurance company offer him a policy, then he agreed to buy the car, then the insurance company backed out.
