Managed to get in queue for 119 service.
Nothing available for testing.
What she did say is that all available bookings on-line are on the Web site from 8pm for the next day, and usually all gone by 8:30pm.
So if you are trying on the web site or via 119 outside of that window, forget it!

Oh right.
When I went on there, the ones released at 8pm were for the same evening. The next day appointments were just listed.
I suppose it could have changed or got overwhelmed in the last week or so.

The test results are taking their time too. My daughter was tested at 10:30am Sunday, as of 8:30am Tuesday, still no results.

Which means we're all home until they come in.

On the plus side, the child we had tested is now feeling much better and no longer showing symptoms. But now the other one is poorly.

Someone pointed out the, well, obvious to me yesterday.

For 5 months kids have been off school, they've not been able to pass their germs to each other.
They go back and the germs have a field day and they pass coughs colds and whatever else to each other like wildfire. Normal.

However, because the Covid symptoms are very similar to a cold or the flu, everyone has to quarantine and get a test.
This then overloads the system and no one can get a test.

This then has the knock on effect of people not isolating (they have to work after all) and the R number rockets.

Bodes well for winter.....

There's a lot of it going around. If it's what we've just had she'll be fine a couple of days. Fingers crossed.

The thing that bothers me though, is that if people were actually doing what they're meant to (ie. Social distancing and hand cleaning etc) then these germs and coughs and colds shouldn't really be as prevalent as they are right now!

I didn't know of one person who had a cold or bug during lockdown.

My daughter goes back to nursery today, really can't be bothered with germs again. lol

Kids don't social distance at school or nursery. They pick up colds and coughs really easily, especially after being in isolation for 5 months.

We will find out at 8pm tonight!
Never got a test last night and no postal tests available.
The local covid-19 testing centre was in Holmfirth today too.
Empty.
People where turning up having not been able to book a test, and being turned away as no QR quote for them to scan.
So certainly looks like a problem with the on-line booking system rather than no testing centres.

Results finally back 68 hours after the test. All clear as expected, so we're all back to work and school today with strict instructions not to cough.

Any kids found coughing at our kids' school are immediately removed to a quarantine area, given a mask and a bottle of water, and collected by a parent immediately.
Seems a little harsh, but I guess it's all or nothing with this nonsense.

It should also be pointed out that we live in the Tendring area which has the lowest rate of infection:

Yea, good news, I live in Tendring, be even less when the daytrippers all leave at the end of the summer!
