Ok, dogupdate; he had another general and operation This lunchtime, they managed to get a catheter into his anal gland and flushed it but a it was clear and b it didn’t come out of the wound so the two are not connected. This is possibly better news as it should make infection treatment easier long term. But makes the tumour route more likely! They flushed out the gaping hole and stitched top and bottom together again. Too much tissue loss to close still even with the reduced swelling. Still going to have a drain to bother him and he will probably smash this cone of shame in minutes trying to break free of it.

anyone got an inflatable one for a 16kg hound?

I'm collecting him 16.45 hopefully.

Yeah, when I had a leak, I called my oil supplier to ask for a recommendation, they gave me a tank supplier who gave me Oil Loss Management, who came round same day, made sure the situation couldn't get worse, installed some blowers to vent the smell, and asked be to recommend them to my insurers. All good.

The insurance company sent a bloke in a suit and a girl in a skirt from Questgate (claims management) two days later who said "Yes it's definitely an oil leak. We will need our oil expert." Then a bloke in overalls turned up a week after that and said "Yes, it's definitely an oil leak. We will need to contract this out to an oil leak specialist." Then I recommended Oil Loss Management, and they got four Welsh blokes to come round and dig out two skips full of contaminated soil. Anyway it all got fixed in the end at no cost to me, apart from paying for a better pipe from tank to boiler.

Don't get me started on Ageas, and spending 4 years fighting them every single step of the way to get my late father-in-law's house reinstated after a fire. They still owe the contractors over £100,000 six months after completion of the work.
Wow!! that sounds like a complete nightmare.
I had the specialist clean up company visit today to undertake a comprehensive site survery and soil sampling. Seem to know what they are doing but they can't start the decontamination job until 2 weeks time. So in the meantime the oil will continue its merry journey contaminating yet more soil. Nuts!..I've also had to inform the Environment Agency and Enviromental Health of the oil leak. Luckily they are happy with what I'm doing to sort the issue out. But it's all a bit of a learning curve TBH.

The tank and concrete will be a **** site cheaper than the remedial work I can assure you of that.

No policy cover wear and tear. Unless it's from DFS or somewhere similar (also a waste of money by the way).
Its going to cost me the best part of £3k for a new bunded tank, platform and insurance excess. I bet the decontamination work will be closer to £25k; 3 days work for the contractor.

Morning. Up with the sparrowfart for Ocado then Tesco for Mrs C's parents. (Mrs C is still abed!) Still, she is back in the office on Monday, so let her sleep.

Some calls today then I believe a glass of something chilled on the deck with some home smoked salmon and green bean salad are the order of the day.

Have a great day, all

C

Morning all, dog was a royal pain last night, crashing around trying to smash the cone so he could get to the wound! Got an air conditioning unit arriving imminently so hopefully a cool night tonight. Jeanette is still in Plymouth with the outlaws visiting her brother who has been a virtual hermit all year in isolation. He is now on full dialysis and is finding it hard work. At this time he is in full remission from the cancers it seems which is amazing even if the treatment cost the kidney.

Getting the driveway done in the morning so a meeting shortly with the contractor to finalise the blend of resin bound.

Have fun all...

It sounds like you find the problems of dealing with an oil leak an inconvenient and unwelcome intrusion on time and wallet. You need to talk to @Dan! about heat pumps.

Morning, all. Newton, good luck! Also to Canis Lupus Familiaris Newtonus. I hope the poor little chap gets better very quickly.

Today, a modicum of chasing around after slow people, and then on with finishing decorating the kitchen (just the ceiling to do now; the bloody sash window yesterday was a right royal pain in the ar5e). After that - may God save us - re-wiring the kitchen lighting / being a human mole under the upstairs floor.

Great.
Our holiday next week to Jersey already cancelled by Easyjet.
Now we are in lockdown in Kirklees for probably the rest of the summer.
That's a lucky escape, Jersey is the most boring place on earth! No history other than the war...populated by conservatives and very old people, even the teenagers are old. No flights to France or anywhere else except 'mother england'. Even Yorkshire is more interesting than Jersey.

Morning all, new toy arrived but do I change the pedals or get some proper cycling shoes

View attachment 73503
I'd stick with the SPD's Zag............Much sleeker looking than normal pedals or rat traps and you don't have to worry about your feet loosing the pedal. But make sure you have the release mechanism practised and confident with this or you can look like a right c0ck at the traffic lights!! I normally carry a pair of light weight pumps in my back pocket if going somewhere that you intend walking about!............Nice bike BTW!
