Swindon went last year. Looking at sales volumes you wonder how many more will go. Newcastle went a few years back and I think there used to be dealer in Cardiff. Dead brand as sales volumes for the MC20 won't keep anyone in Balsamic Vinegar.

Interestingly the link that Marshall's have put up to help you find a dealer to service your Maserati takes you to Citroen!

Looked empty when I went by the other day. Cars still on the forecourt, including a lovely grey GT Sport (I think)

And of course the Ribble Valley one went last year too.

Apparently Maserari would just dump a load of Ghiblis on a dealer even if they did not want any, bill them and leave the poor sods with stock they did not need or want (hence heavy discounts).

Not the best franchise model.

Not great, Maserati worked best when it sold more expensive cars. The £50k diesel saloons have not worked. A halo car - MC20 - with a coupe/convertible and, perhaps, an SUV for brand loyalists to drive in the winter/with the family and that will do. Price them at £150k, £90k/£100k and £70k resp. and you have a business. Trouble is they will stretch the pricing and promise cars long before they can deliver them and people will get bored and move on. The Maserati rebirth has failed and they then went and did the same at Alfa and that has failed too judging by sales volumes. Real shame.

Yes, sad times as it was my local and where I bought the Stradale from. They had a huge catchment area, right through to Cambridge & beyond plus they absorbed the Oxford dealership a couple of years ago.
Their service side was always fairly busy but the sales were very slow with the same used stock sticking around for a long time so I don't think it is a huge surprise.

I heard something similar about the Levante programme, and as dealers rely on stock turn (aka cashflow) what's the point?

Sign of the times. There will be plenty of dealers from all makes of car closing down over the next 6 months and beyond.

Was it Peterborough where that abandoned QP was?

I contacted them and they were adamant they would not entertain offers or try and facilitate a sale.

I get they may not have been in a position to sell but the attitude of the gentleman I spoke to would not have encouraged me to go there.

My experience with Dick Lovett when I went there for a PPI on a ropey 4200 I didn't buy was a complete contrast. I was treated to a 'tour' of their workshop whilst I waited and it was a nice day out there.

Marshalls as a group look better placed to weather the storm than Lookers or Pendragon; regrettably jettisoning the Maser dealership may be the best for the business.
