Wierd this one, as ive not heard of it before nor has my Indy.

The button on my Steering wheel have stopped working, the buttons dont light up and they dont function.

This started off as a intermittent problem but now seems to be permanent. I have checked the fuses and all seem to be fine

Any ideas?

Thanks

Noor,
have not come across this before...
apart from checking all the fuses, you could try a battery disconnect,
I don't know if this will help, and you will also need to get the system to carry out some self-learning operations once the battery is reconected to ensure certain devices are recognized by the system again, so you may want to have it checked out properly, just a thought...
Enzo.

Once you reconnect the battery negative terminal,

Throttle self-learning
Set the ignition switch to ON (KEY ON) and wait at least 15 seconds.
start the engine and let it idle for about 15 seconds.

Central Door Locking
Perform a door LOCK /UNLOCK operation with the remote control

SUNROOF:
Sunroof closed and key ON
Rotate the selector switch fully to the maximum tilting position
press the selector switch and, keeping it pressed, wait for the sunroof to lock mechanically
release the selector switch
within 5 sec. press the selector switch again and keep it pressed
after a few seconds the sunroof will start an automatic cycle (keep the selector switch pressed)
at the end of the movement, the initialization is complete
release the selector switch

IT Node (NIT) and CLOCK:
When the NIT is switched on, the NIT code must be entered:
Using the knob on the right, enter the four-digit (radio) code which will enable you to unlock the navigator.

Others
You may also need to adjust the time, date, and info shown on the instrument panel

It's an old post but i have same problem on mine. None of the steering wheel buttons work (except the horn). All the fuses are ok.

Any solutions on this issue?

Just to resurrect this thread for the 2nd time…

Same symptoms on my 2013 GT, intermittent steering wheel buttons which eventually were inactive more than on.

Took it to Autoshield, changed out the buttons with a spare set and no fix but on inspection of the clock spring there was a loose connection and think it caused a short, in turn causing the clock spring to die.

A replacement clock spring fitted and all back up and running!

Just wanted to note a fix since I’ve seen a few posts with people not always finding a solution - this worked for me.

Thanks to Marios, Russ and team as always and for Conaero on the pointer to the Clock spring :urock:

Clock spring is the obvious one but there seems to be a thread of failure with the actual buttons and chips around them. Certainly quite a few in Leftpondia. Typically the illumination on the buttons starts to flash when cold, and it gets worse before ultimate failure.

An odd one

True @CatmanV2 but I had similar with the buttons flashing before eventually stopping working all together…I think this is the same common symptom on their way out if the connection has come loose which explains the sometimes on/sometimes off issue too
