My best guess at the moment is go ahead but as a closed event with TV coverage.

If so, and assuming an air bridge with the French is established and 14 day quarantine dropped, then we will have an almighty 24H party in La Chartre with a fantastic collection of cars in the Square. Come and see us if you decide to drive to Le Mans for the event dates, even if you can't visit the circuit.

I won't be going to the race as usual then like most years. I usually just pay £120 to stand at the Bar in the centre field for 2 hours. I also walk past the p1ss bush behind the start finish straight whilst trying to decide wheather I'm going to sh!t myself in public or not .

The line up this year is rubbish anyway. The combination of rule changes coming in next year and the virus have both depleted the field. I honestly don't care if there is a race or not. I'd prefer it but it's no deal breaker. We can easily do timed runs up the road to our gite.....that's how Colin McCrae learned his craft on country roads in Scotland!

It'll be carnage if the race goes ahead without spectators and they allow bars to be open.

I guess the biggest gauge of whether it will be on is if campsites are allowed to open.

They've just announced that they will not sell any more tickets for the race.

If you haven't got a ticket already, you're not getting in.

I’ll be watching it on a laptop at the gite whilst getting p!ssed and carbonising meat. Same old, same old for me this year.

Seems that ticket sales have been 'suspended' rather than 'ended', in the hope that restrictions might ease, allowing bigger crowds.

From the website: "Ticket sales have been suspended until further notice, pending government announcements and according to the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic. .... Ticket sales have been suspended in the hope that conditions improve, enabling current restrictions on large crowds to be lifted. "

For myself, I'm not too worried - I'm just looking forward to chatting about politics with @BennyD over some barbecued horse-meat.

The perennial challenge is being able to tell the difference between Benny and barbecued horse meat. Many of us find ourselves shouting profanities at charred, grizzled lumps of old meat only to find that Benny is somewhere else in a raging argument with an inanimate object.

Still open ended as dependent on government rules, we have tickets ready to go but still not planning too far ahead

If you have booked a campsite with an ACO partner org with entrance tickets as part of the package or you have already ordered from the ACO then your tickets will be sent

As most foreign visitors buy in advance with campsites and will therefore get in vs locals who buy on the gate at the event, there may be trouble ahead!

Sacre Bleu! Watch out for traditional French protest methods of tractors and burning tyres blocking entrances

I may be able to get my hands on a small number (up to 30 or so) general enclosure tickets nearer the time via a friend who works for the ACO and has helped in the past. Any of you who have booked accommodation with me will get sorted I promise.

Can I request a couple if possible and available at some point please Sir?

Do NOT Google 'on the barbie'.

View attachment 72283

That reminds me of a very unfortunate incident a few years ago, when someone slipped, and a product of the barbie entered a part of the inflatable Barbie. Luckily, someone was on hand to help put matters right very quickly. There was also a rocket.

That wasn’t blow-up Barbie, that was Sparts and he said the rocket slipped straight in. Didn’t touch the sides if I remember correctly. :D
