Think I picked the hottest afternoon to sort the diff. Case drilled and tapped for oil cooler lines.

Backlash set.

And engagement pattern.

Also had a look at the driver’s side front wheel bearing this morning before work as I was up at 5am. Pretty sure the spindle is toast and has run the inner race at some point in the past.

Rear suspension now partly together.

Got a bit of a problem with oil bleeding through the door skins where the locks have been greased over the years. Been degreasing them for two weeks but you still end up with a grease spot on the outside after a couple of hours.

Minilites per chance?

Don’t know yet. The two things I’m not decided on are wheels and fuel tank size.

I was actually thinking Torq Thrusts. There’s a company here that does a 3 piece with rear bolts so looks period.

Gearbox now back together after a couple of bits arrived from the States

And linkage attaches, just need to adjust the stops.

After putting the tailhousing on for the first time I found I’d jammed the fourth gear baulk ring on the synchro hub so had to take it apart again. After I’d put it back together I realised I’d forgotten to put reverse gear in so apart and back together for a third time. At least I noticed I’ve got a mate who did that with a Mini and only found out when he tried to reverse out the garage.

Is this what happens as you get old, you become more and more inept until you’re sitting in a pool of wee because you don’t know how to use the toilet?

Yep I’ve given myself a good beating.
Don't take it too badly. When restoring an old J4 (remember those!) Camper van as a yoof, me and my mate managed to install all of the con rods back to front. We couldn't understand why we couldn't turn the engine over. In a flash of brilliance we decided to start filing the bearing shells as clearly the engineering works was totally incompetent!
A very expensive mistake and my Dad couldn't stop laughing about it for years after.

Windscreen seems to fit. Been crapping myself about that for a few months! Just wanted to check before it went to have the cage done in case I needed to borrow a Porta-Pac
