Is it the latch or a module the fails?

If the module, does it get complicated with programming the key to the module?

I had this issue with my Aston, turned out to be fairly common.

"Lock down is over where I live, so I thought it would be fun to drive there for once..."

Battery needs a recharge and a good blast. Mine was the same a week ago. I never have battery issues but not driving it due to lock down gave me christmas tree lights, CEL and an engine coughing like a chain smoker when i took it out. Wifes Merc was the same, took it for new tyres and had to jump start it to get it home.

Latchmodule :). It's the locking mechanism in the door. Simple electromechanical solenoid opening / closing the lock. No programming needed, plug and play

Correct me if I'm wrong but this door latch module is also what controls the 'window dip' feature when opening/closing the doors correct? I've got my drivers locks broken and I've been told those two problems are related.

I was actually referring to a 4200 my bad, these cars are so similar superficially but so different you don't know what to expect. I wouldn't think they would change the door mechanism over the redesign however.

Doesn't look at all like the 4200 part from memory. Either way I'm pretty sure the window drop in the 4200 had nothing to do with the latch / lock module. All that was was the solenoid and a switch to tell it if it's in postition.

<edit> Just cross referenced, it appears to be the same

Those window drop things scare me. What if the drop mech fails and you close the door quite hard? Or even open it? Smashed glass?

Is the right answer. Which is why you don't disconnect the battery with the doors shut, and windows up....
