Service history from memory,
2005-2007 - wasn’t serviced - was owned by a guy who was mates with Jeremy Clarkson and only bought it to spite him as he said they were shite, think it had done about 1.8-2k miles..so he basically had it parked up.
It then had “stamps” in the book for every year except one where it did about 500 miles.
Myself and Brett were the only ones to keep receipts, they were in an emblem wallet when I let it go. As was the guarantee, free top up on the coating stuff for 2 years.
I also left the original stereo and a paint chip kit in the boot.
As was the original centre exhaust as I had a Benny x pipe on it.
The service history book, owners manuals with the cards etc were all in the owners pack in the boot.
I also had a k&n or bmc filter on it, but I guess that will be soaked now....

Cheers Dave , be interesting to see whats was still with it when it was sold on, from when you had it , whether the new owner recieved all that was with the car :hammer: or whether some bits were removed .................all will become clear in due couse but thanks mate , thats helpful as it would be nice if the owner had that little lot on full

No problem Loz, anything that comes to mind just ask, car was serviced in Aug/Sept for the Italy trip...so oil would be brand new as only 3k miles on it since...it only did 2k miles the year before but I still had full service done. Guy in thr garage asked me if I wanted the oil for another car...

Thanks duly noted, but after a thorough and intensive check this morning its really apparent that this is quite simply water ingess through the air intake , no water has splashed up inside the engine bay , A good chance that the o2 sensors might of had a good dousing but then they normally would under normal hard rain conditions.....................if there is an outstanding flaw with these cars .....its that the air intake vent is in the lower passenger side of the front bumper and litterally acts as a scoop in anything 5" or more standing water ..................Once the battery is charged i'll pop back down and we can have a go at winding her over first by hand to see if she's is free , if that works out ok we can proceed with the other checks for compression / piston depth etc

At the moment im back self isolating
The 4200 engine will run with the MAF removed, it defaults to a stock map. I had an issue with mine where it would start up but after a few minutes the engine would stop. Voicey advised me to disconnect the plug into the MAF and drive it to his. So it should be OK to start and run without it. If that is the only fault. They're about £100 new.
A bloody good result if it's just that.

Seems highly unlikely they would have sold the car through Copart for want of a MAF. But stranger things have happened.

Certainly does....
Im no master tuner but it does seem a somewhat hopeful leap of logic

At the moment my head and eyes are completely wide open for whatever situation , but yes stranger things have happened , back in 2009 myself and Roberto /Grimaldi , had 2 similar eurospares gransports both cat d hydrolocks for strip down to spares , After doing the checks and cleaning out the bores both engines were running in under an hour each one ,
All I can is face the challenge that's in front of me , obviously a result would be the best scenario for my pocket

It will be a nice result if the engine is sound.
My last one had the engine condemned by a renowned specialist in Kent back in 2014.
I nearly went all guns blazing and bought a complete engine.
Back then there were always a few for sale on Ebay.
As I had time on my hands getting ready to go to New Zealand I thought let's take her apart.
Certainly one of the best I had driven.
Telling the story to the Dealership in Auckland whilst getting a certificate of conformity to get her registered there got me the job with them.

Fingers crossed it is a cheap simple fix, even if you were to buy a used engine it would need stripping etc to make sure you’re not wasting a load of time.
Might as well rebuild what’s fitted. After following the 360 rebuild thread a full rebuild will be big money and that 360 was essentially a good running engine.

Last thing tonight car will go on the ramp / remove the bumper undertray ready for some inspection tomorrow morning , That will give us easier access to the crrank pully so as to manually turrn the engine over both clockwise and anti clockwise initially to work in the duck oil /WD 40 mix , I dosed the bores first thing this morning so it has time to soak in , The car has been sitting with the plugs out in coparts yard for x amount of time if there is some ring stick that should help free it off , Hopefully a couple of hours tomorrow morning and i'll know the route we will be taking , Lump in throat and no skipping , or ill be high fiving it and skipping to my hearts content .....................tantalising 24hrs ahead

My mate Dave, diamond that he is , stayed on an extra hour and did the honours , we can turn the engine anti clockwise to a point where it stops solid , turn it clockwise and it goes back round to the same point and it sticks again ..................... so probably a con rod or two and needs further strip down to determine an exact diagnosis/senopsis . So yes guys you will get your rebuild :clap1::dance2::dance: and my mushroom wallet will come out and see daylight :as001 (2): lol

Good news is The service history handbook has been located and will hopefully be on its way to me curtasy of Dicky Grace and Marios so in advance thank you guys

Sucks about the engine. Is the diagnosis that it had a glug from the intake during the floods?

yes it was in neutral :hammer: even the exhausts had a little water in one of them , and had been loosened when it was checked by the assessor presumably , so yes it had a glug though the intake ...................usual thing and common with these cars
