Had this Girard Perregaux 'TheStrider' for almost 50 years. Still going strong.

It's a bit knocked about, as I wore it every day for years. Pity about the scratches and weld spatter. It gets worn regularly, and just needs a coup;e of winds, then self-winds. Sadly, due to hearing loss, I miss that lovely fast tick!

I too used to wear them all the time and damaged a few with welding and generally hands on working as a mechanic.
Now I take it off for safety as much as anything seeing someone get burned from shorting across a tight starter motor.

I’d like a blue Nomos Glashutte Autobahn one day...

A Patek Phillipe Calatrava 5296G-001 would also be suitable for formal occasions. Again, one day...

Stylish but never been a fan of square or rectangular watches
Not even the famous Heuer Monaco as worn by Steve McQueen in “Le Mans”?

This is my collection, of which the Monaco is one of the least expensive but my favourite. Worn sparingly as it has an easy-scratch plastic face.

All are autos, and with the two Tourbillons I’ve always been advised not to use watch winders as mechs are so complex and delicate that unnecessary wear is not good. Is this right? The Patek is getting quite old now and not problematic, so I tend to think if it ain’t broke don’t fix (wind) it.

Most of them get used every 3 months or so for a couple of weeks, so I hope that keeps the mech in good order. The Chopard Mille Mille just had a full repair and service as I dropped it on a wooden floor and not surprisingly it stopped working! 63871

Very nice. I fancy a Monaco, but I think three Tags is OTT. Although the old one should probably be pensioned off.

Lovely collection.
