F1 pump issue - 4200 CC

2 days before the 3rd anniversary of completely reliable ownership, my 4200 CC F1 pump seems to have given up :-( Annoying as I was just about to put it away for the winter months.

Drove home with no problems the other night but next day it has been showing CC warning light and car not starting. There is no whirr/whine from the pump when I unlock the car. Forum threads have been very useful as always, so I've tried a battery reset, rocking the car back/forth etc. but to no avail.

Any recommendations for central Scotland indie? PK Supercars seem to just do storage now, although I've left a VM for Phil just in case they'll handle a repair. Graypaul Maserati in Edinburgh quoted me £2600 inc. VAT for the pump fitted - no idea if that's reasonable or not?

Is it a relatively simple job in that a competent mechanic - not me!! - could do this without it having to go to a Maserati specialist? I read on other threads that there's an Alfa alternative part....

If it is the pump, not the relay, it's probably just the motor. Do a forum search and you will find info on changing the motor, probably for a few hundred pounds, and doable by a competent mechanic.

Have a look at the F1 pump relay first, could be a cheaper fix. If you search you will find the BMW equivalent relay which is easier to find and cheaper to buy. Fingers crossed.
Thanks @rossyl , checked what version of relay (5 pin) and collecting the BMW relay tomorrow - fingers crossed!

If the relay is okay as said, it is not necessary to replace the complete pump and motor, just the motor, then no issues with bleeding the system and requiring specialist sd2 to reset it up.

If it is the pump. An Alfa Selespeed pump is the same and significantly cheaper than the exact same, but Maserati branded, part.

David Phillips in Edinburgh is really good. He is a Porsche and Ferrari specialist and knows his way round a Maserati. I've seen 3200's, Quattroporte, 4200 etc whilst I've been there. He also did work on my 4200. He has the correct diagnostic equipment as well. East Coast Sports Cars are based where PK used to be and employ the same engineers etc. Not used them myself but Nicholas is very knowledgeable and owns several Maseratis.

Thanks for the steer @flexwing, my mate who has a 911 Turbo uses David Phillips, might need to give him a call at the start of the week. Will also check East Coast too. Cheers.

just in case...thanks!

But if the parts are not beeing sold seperately, i don't see any meaning in replacing only the one part.
