And because my interest is piqued:
British chicken is the safest chicken meat in Europe: 2% of British chickens have salmonella whereas 30% of European chickens have the disease. All British hens are vaccinated against salmonella.

So something not quite stacking up about the EU food safety regs there.

And this is why you never have undercooked eggs at restaurants; a lot buy their eggs from Europe because they are cheaper. I reckon most of the US chickens will end up in your take always and ready made foods because it’s not declared. Just like imported meats are already.

Meh. I've never had a problem with under cooked eggs. In fact the only food poisoning I've had was shellfish.....

Have not (knowingly) eaten chicken in years
It is bland and tasteless IMHO including the variants such as Garlic, Herb etc etc
I also object to the way the birds are kept
I see a whole new thread appearing here

My understanding of it is that salmonella is present if the gut of many animals including chicken. When that meat is processed you can either have a well managed system that separates those parts from the consumed parts which prevents transfer - what the standards are intended to encourage - or you can not do that and attempt to wash of the contamination at the end of the process.

I know which one I would prefer.

Only time for me was a half-time meat pie at Goodison Park, League Cup Semi, Everton - Sheff. Wed. 3-2, great game, but that pie.......

Started in car, cramps, noises from tummy, got home, it was coming out of every orifice, had three weeks off work over that and I'm not one to pander to illness.

Let's hope we won't be getting our half-time meat pies from the US....

This is an eggsellent topic and salmonella’s is no yolk whatsoever.
However it does remind my that I went to the store today and bought some really oddly shaped eggs.
Now I can't find them.I think I’ve mislaid them.
Anyway, clearly the best place to get unbiased information about eggs is not the Eu or the Us. It’s an hen-cyclopedia.
By the way tomorrow is Fry-day.
Regarding French eggs, how many do you need?
One egg is un oeuf.

I’m cracking up!

Euro zone bank share meltdown brings prices to brink of 1980s
Negative interest rates, toppling bond yields, greater regulation and rising recession signals have wiped out most of the value of European banks, with their shares now at meltdown prices approaching the days of the Berlin Wall.

Read in Reuters: https://apple.news/Aiif3gstISveV_h3Jww1PHA

Confirming the EU is going to need A SH1TLOAD MORE Ponzi.........lost 84% of their value, that’s 84%!!!!!!
Aren’t bankers supposed to look after money:frusty5:

The Eu is a failed political project, but let’s keep pretending it’s all fine.

Stop conflating EU and Euro.

The failed project is the Euro. The idea that you could have a common currency across disparate economies always was a pipe dream. Time to bin it. It’s not need for the EU to function.

So why would we want to be part of something that is going to destroy umpteen countries when it falls apart. Do you understand the chaos that unwinding the Euro would cause?
What on Earth do you think will happen to these economies..........
Don’t you see the importance of diversifying our economy away from this disaster, now?

Did you miss the first sentence?

Stop conflating the EU with the Euro.

Diversifying to be less reliant on EU markets absolutely. However we can do that in or out.

If the Euro collapses we are in a better position to take advantage of it in the EU, with access to markets etc, than outside it. Outside the EU we will find it harder as you can be sure they’ll harden third country access to try and save their internal market.
