Cheap 4200 CD Changer replacement - the Yatour YT-MT 06 - My experience

From memory, I think you may have to have the CD changer enabled in the NIT for it to be recognised if there isn't already one fitted. This requires access to the NIT software which you may be able to find on-line or someone here may be able to help.

Ive just been told the unit needs "coding' ( geek speak for written computer code ) but that it can be done with the thing on the bench...

:( Not such a good guess on my part then.

FWIW my NIT doesn’t have a phone in it. The slot to put the card in is not actually a slot, and what looks like the GSM aerial cable isn’t plugged in to anything.

All a bit random unfortunately.

I've had a Bluetooth Yatour in my 4200 for just under two years. You don't need to do anything to the NIT other than plug the Yatour in. The Yatour performs the appropriate handshaking with the NIT to make the NIT believe that a CD changer is present. The Yatour also interprets play, pause, skip etc. from the NIT.

It's fairly good but occasionally won't auto-connect to the phone (had the issue with two phones) and even more occasionally the NIT doesn't see it.

Did you previously have the CD multi-changer connected?

Or the NIT has been changed - they have form for going bad.
This can only be confirmed by checking the part number of the NIT in the car, against the part number that pertains to the VIN/chassis number. In the same way you ask for any model specific parts...
Part of me thinks it is likely they havent actually put differing software into each and every NIT depending on the spec sheet at the point of order..It just doesnt stack up as a good use of organisational or clerical manpower or certainty to my mind ! However, I think the part numbers describe the function capabilities of the NIT( ie- satnav-phone etc), so on the face of it, I also think it just as likely !
Like I said though..The replacement NIT I fitted doesnt see the CD changer - unless there is some way of specifically selecting the CD function from the control panel Im unaware of...!

Unlikely, nothing in the service history to suggest that.

Maybe you've answered your own question? The replacement is also bad?

The Yatour is a Loudlink equivalent / knock off and their site doesn't mention needing the CD changer enabling either.

It's feasible that there is a way of locking the CD changer to the NIT but if that is the case, I expect the Yatour / loudlink sends a null or universal ID.

You could always ask this fella what he did.
It'll be a remote mounted faceplate i.e. the main box is somewhere else.
Using the original facia surround, cut to fit, and filled rather badly imho.
Why go to that trouble and bodge the surround!? Otherwise nice.

Exactly..good question....!

I’m guessing yes...!

I have tried my replacement nit with the cd changer. It doesn’t see it. At all...!

Just to check, not doubting your efforts to fit your CD-Changer.

This is the diagnostic screen that I see on mine:

I thought it might shed a bit of light in comparison to yours. The software version number might help. Also you can see mine says the CD-Changer is present. That is with the Yatour fitted, but its the same as when the CD changer was.

Is yours greyed out like my GSM option is on another screen? Or just not there at all?

Thanks for posting that...!
It does see it. Operator error...
I’ve loaded a cd to the changer though & nothing doing..?
There must be a function from the control panel to select input...?

Edit : there is. It’s called SRC

Good news is Im just a muppet. RTFM. ;)

That’s a result then!

I had/have the opposite problem. I can select the internal CD and the CD Changer but neither of them actually read a CD. I guess the laser heads are gone. No problem now I have the Yatour fitted

Is your CD Changer actually working then? Can you hear your CDs?

Find the changer doesn't like cheapo CD-R's or any written at high speed, I do 1x or 2x with no issues...

Yes, I thought about that but it won’t read even high quality commercial albums, or the SatNav CD. I could replace the CD drive in the armrest with a but of effort but that is well down the list of priorities tbh.
