Hi,I purchased a GT last week and noticed all four wheels were worn smooth on the insides. Replaced all 4 our tires and asked the alignment guy to give me a before and after print out of the alignment, this is what he set the alignment to. Could anyone tell me if this looks within spec. I don't do Track driving or high speed maneuvers. Any info will be great.56682

Would you expect in spec to be coloured red? ;)

No it's way out. The uneven wear is caused by toe out. Take it somewhere proper for a 4 wheel alignment and it'll feel like a different car

Sorry have I just re-read this that this is what he set it to? As in he altered it, other than by changing the tyres, and this is what he gave you?

Dear god!

The coloured boxes being red on the report doesn’t mean the actual setting is wrong only the setting is outside of the minimum and maximum ranges set in the software when it was used..

The actual values of thrust / steering angle are good and toe looks about right.

Need to see the recommended settings for a GT to know really.

actually, yes! his front toe is perfect now, though we all know +0.05° (very slight toe IN) is perfect for the car but way out of Maserati specs (-0.7° toe OUT — a tire munching angle).

that said you could use a little less camber on the fronts and a little more caster, though maybe you were at your limits on the eccentrics.

and holy moly, your "before" numbers were abysmal.

Umm, I may be reading that wrong, but I see toe off the chart and total toe point left? Unless we're talking adjustment for camber.

For comparison here's mine:

Make of that what you will.....

Or maybe you're right given the different units! :)

I made it a point to inform the alignment guy that Maserati's alignment numbers chewed the inside of all 4 tires to smooth. I told him to make the wheels vertical and straight to avoid excessive tire inner wear . I may need to buy a tire depth gauge to keep track of the tire wear. ........56711 Here are 2 pictures of what the rear L&R wheels looked like before the alignment.

interesting cat, your shop must've overridden the "approved" ranges, because those are very much not to official (aka terrible) specs.

oh, and total toe does not measure which direction the wheels point, it's the angle between the two wheels. positive means "in", negative means "out". the number can't reflect left or right. left or right is "steer ahead" (for the front) or "thrust angle" (for the back).

and yeah, lots of different measurement units: mm, inches, decimal angle, seconds/minutes angle.

there's sixty arcseconds to a degree, or one to 1/60th (0.01667) of a degree. to convert degrees to linear measurement (mm or inches), you have to multiply the sine times the radius of the wheel.

Check these numbers out. This was posted from another Maserati Granturismo site, great minds think alike. Always let common sense be your guide.5678356784

The problem with the last alignment was handling issues around bends. The rear of the GT would feel like it was skipping around corners which was scary at times. I think $ 2000.00 for 2 rear tires is nothing VS the value of the car. The alignment to date is Maserati's but not as aggressive.

I took my GTS to Centre Gravity to get a first class geo set up. I'm even prepared to travel 3 hours to get there from home!

Just seen this, I am booked in here next Monday for a full set up and getting new tyres at the same time. I haven't been able to find a negative review of what they do, but in your experience was it worth the cost?

I think it is. They do a really thorough job and weight the car correctly... you'll enjoy it! Let us know how it goes.

Will do! So far they’ve been great to deal with, which is always a good start. They’ve let me get the tyres delivered to them, and have arranged for the garage next door to fit them for me whilst I’m there. I’m really looking forward to it

Goes something like this...

Starts by driving the car pre-adjustment (incl limit of grip test), discuss requirements and use characteristics, check current settings, tyres etc. Weight the car as specified, adjust the geo, drive again, and if necessary adjust again.

My GTS took a full day, including freeing up and replacing some parts.

They'll remember me, Mark from Cumbria... Please say hi! Pics of my GTS and GT3 there for geo...
