TYRES for GTS

My rear Pirellis are now worn and need replacing - they have worn down as though their compound was made of butter! Reading various forums on here - mixed reviews on these. So am looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2. Realise this is somewhat of a personal preference from reading, but as ive only had the Pirellis on since owning the car just under a year any help would be appreciated in making my decision.

I would go for Goodyear Eagle F1's given the choice but they don't make the sizes for all 4 wheels and I wouldn't want mixed brands, so its Michelin which are pricey but excellent.

I've just had the Michelins replace the Pirellis on the rear.

My bum doesn't clench so much now. Definitive proof will be in colder weather though

If you use the car all year round, in cold and wet conditions as well as warm and dry, the Michelins are a great choice. I've just fitted new P Zero's to the MC-Strad, as this for me is a fair-weather only vehicle.

PS4s get better reviews than PZeros. Dry grip as well as wet. They'll be my replacement before Le Mans.

I should probably order some. :)

Thank you all for your posts - also good to read that the Contis were just as bad as the PZeros.
Think with the type of use i give my GTS - from the very north of Scotland to Dorset on regular runs the Michelns will serve me well

If you have a Costco membership and one near you it’s worth pricing the Michelin’s there.. way cheaper fitted than ATS Etc.

Yeh, I got mine in Costco as well. Bunged the fitter £20 before he started to make sure he concentrated. Great job. Spent the savings on industrial size bags of cashew nuts while I waited though!

Outrun - sounds like you got off lightly - when i go there i somehow end up filling most of the trolley with the pastries :)

Price on CostCo site... - not sure if prices better by going into the tyre centre though - as getting quotes up in the depths of the Highlands at pretty much same price?

They had a deal on recently for free fitting which made a slight difference of £20 per wheel if I remember. If nothing else though you can quote their prices to a local tyre place and see what they can do. As for those pastries... yup I’d agree with you there..

In the size I need availability is pretty limited, so don't assume you can wait until the last minute. Maybe GTS and Strad sizes are more easily available, though.

Update on tyres - managed to get rear Michelin 4S’s for £227 each inc. from local tyre centre up in Thurso

Agree that P Zeros are poor for our climate but I am on my second set of Conti SC3s and they are outstanding. Are an approved tyre too for the GranTurismo whereas the SC6 is for another Maserati, Ghibli/QP I think.

from south London via Dorset to living in the most northerly point of the mainland - even I wonder how I ended up here! Still the drive to my work in Dorset next week is always a great one

I went from south London to Perthshire - much shorter relocation!
