Calling Gransport owners - a few questions

You beat me to it! PM me an address and the stalks are yours.
Although untested worse case is the cruise control arm can be swapped over to your existing set.
I did this with mine as the self-cancel tabs were slightly worn on the replacement.
If you need to do that opening the unit up is straight forward enough.
There'll be a couple of springs which will jump about - its was obvious though once inside.
Also, there are little copper contact "hats" which may work free. Just something to be aware of.

PM sent... many thanks!

This is the one that I keep thinking of getting but I want to see how it looks first. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pioneer-AV...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=2QWBVS900KP3D80DWZHY

At the moment, I’ve just got one of those cheap plastic iPhone holders which works just fine, but the single Din fold out looks the business as long as it will fold our properly.
Hi Jeremy,

Ive got a double din pop out in my GS. It’s an old one now but it works well and you can tweet the angle of the screen. There’s also a button to tilt it forward for a few seconds if you want to get at the heater controls.

It works well, I’d gladly replace with another (with DAB as the signal is shite on it currently).

Hi folks,

I’m actively considering selling my car and buying a Gransport LE, and would welcome some advice.

1) What are the best ways to enhance the exhaust note? I have a Larini x-pipe on my GTS which I’m presuming won’t fit, but love the crackles and snarl when changing up, so would like to achieve something similar...
2) What are the options in terms of bring the stereo and in-car technology into the 21st century? I don’t need Sat-nav as I always use Waze, but I would like to get in car phone calls, and ideally Bluetooth music streaming
3) Has anyone done a mod that gives steering wheel controls?

Thanks in advance

X pipe with straight through rear boxes, definitely the way forward!!

Get a late model or LE with the upgraded Becker unit with inbuilt satnav. Not all the roads are current but makes a drive out turn into an adventure!!

Or just buy mine when I put up for sale in March after new clutch and service?

Too late - the deed is done!

Jon already bought a car, I have x-pipe and considering changing to Larini cats at front to get rid of the 13 year old ceramic jobbies, to be safe, even if it has only done 13k miles, I’m more concerned that age rather than lack of use may be an issue,
Thoughts?

I took out the secondary CAT.sectuons and replaced with custom decat pipes so if the primary CATS did break up they should shoot straight through backwards.....hopefully.

I think you should definitely do it Dave, and then we should meet up so I can hear it!

I’m thinking (after 10 days of GS ownership!) that my eventual goal is Larini cats, Larini x-pipe, and the standard GS back boxes... the challenge now is to sit on my hands and wait until I’ve owned the car for a few more months, rather than pile in and get it all fitted before Le Mans.

Not sure the Larini x-pipe is that different to the one you will get from Ben D or Marious, but tice the price I believe....

I have photos of both, Jon I will PM them to you. The Benny/Autoshield X pipe is made to a very high standard, I am planning on getting one when my wallet has recovered from changing the clutch on my car

Ditto my thinking with mine - very much liking the pops and crackers now too!

Do Autosheild (or sell..) make and ship them, or do they have to be fitted? What's the ballpark cost?
I'm thinking that when the exhaust is off for the clutch change it might be worth switching out the exhaust... ;)

I want to do this...the 4200 is so very quieted, its a shame. Gutted back boxes aren't for me.
...but it would be such a ball ache to find it failing on MOT emissions testing as a result.

No, both Ben & Marious ship, think mine was £220, can take it any exhaust place to fit but I waited for MOT time at an Engineering place I trust

I have the Larini valved rear boxes and Marios XPipe, I will try to make Alton next month so you can hear them.

Back boxes and centre section do nothing for emissions only sound muffling. The front pipes with the cats handle the emissions. Of course you can fail on the car being too loud depending on the test centre/tester.

I recall you thought my car was too loud with the GS boxes with the valves open. I have got the valves working now and it's much more civilised with them closed.

My car does not sound right as the x pipe I had made sounds more like straight throughs

That would be great - what do the Larini valves rear boxes add over the normal GS rear boxes? Aren’t they also valved?

The primary cats are in the headers on my facelift 4200...Both lambdas are situated here...so there is no impedimant to replacing the secondary cats with a a straight through substitute, if thats what you mean..? Emissions are tested at MOT at the tail pipe, as im sure you are aware. If the 2ndCats are deleted, emissions will go up...Im confident in that being fact. The older the cats, the less eficient they will have become too. All part of the puzzle.
Id probably be happier to "pootle" about if I could hear that lovely cross plane crank, which would be good for my licence ! Not so much my neighbours, I fear ! :D
